My First Cache!!!!

2011 started off with only two wheats and a "Good for 5 cents" token after a half a dozen outings.Me and my son have been hitting are town pretty hard trying to use all the tips that I have picked up from these forums. Anyway we found a wooded area not far from an Old Soldiers Home. This place had an old horse shoe pit and eating area it was built back in the 30's.the trees are all very big so I Know they were there then, and way before.I started thinking about how some old guys living in dorm like conditions might cache stuff so it don't get stole,or stole stuff from others and cached it out in the wooded area.Me and my son hunted the pit area first and found a lot of clad coins mostly from the 70's then a 1944 wheat and a lot pull tabs.Yesterday I had two hours for myself,so i went back to the spot, but this time out to the big tree area.I was pulling random trash signals for about 30 minutes, then I got a big signal by a doubled tree, this signal was a big 2 ft circle. My first thought was too big to be good, but the tone doesn't lie.My first plug and out pops a 1958 franklin half dollar...Oh Holy #%ap, I just realized that I was sitting on a pile of them.Being that I am within view of some golfers, I chose not to do my signature back flip.I popped the next one out closer to the tree, since there was grass clumps and poison oak roots at the base of a tree, I decided to move them out of the way. When I did I found a military surplus chain leading from the tree straight down. A few inches further I hit SILVER! The total 22 silver coins-12 Franklins,6-1954,2-1957,4-1958.7walking liberty,1-1936,2-1941,1-1942,1-1943,1-1945,1-1946.3 silver quarter,1-1936,1-1950,1-1958.The majority of the coins were within inches from each other some were further apart and out from the tree. I m thinking they were moved by roots,or a close call with a brush hog.Needles to say me and my son will hit every tree in area.By the way the weather has been great the last week here in OREGON! I would like to thank these forums for all advice that you all share.I was using my original EXCALIBUR cause the grass is wet and she doesn't mind, and when I get home she can jump in the shower with me.Thank you.... Thanks for sharing.

Very nice! Yews, dig ALL signals within 10 feet of that tree or so. Also, flip to PP mode and dig any largish iron signals. might be more in metal containers there or near other trees.
