Sunday I hit up what's left of a front yard after the house was torn down years ago. I didn't find much, just a '26 and '46 Wheat's, and this belt plate. The plate was my second target, the first being a HUGE piece of brass about 12" away.
The plate is copper-plate over pot-metal. As you can see, some of the lettering is starting to corrode away. I can make out the words "Official" in the top right corner, and "Davy Crockett" along the bottom. With the musket and powder horn image, I'm thinking this is some promotional item for kids from way-back-when? There's nothing on the back.
