My first beach trip

Hightone

New member
This will be my first time to try my CXIII and the 250 at the beach. We will be on the coast of upper Virginia and Maryland, traveling through the fishing villages and beach areas up the coast. It will be interesting to see how close I can get to the water before the detector starts screaming.

Hello Hightone,
My wife and I just returned from Atlantic Beach NC and we had a great time. Most of my good hits were very deep, 12" or more. I was talking to a local resident and learned that the dredges were out all winter and they dredges as much a 2' of sand onto the beach. Don't be surprised if your finds are really deep. I was using my ACE 250 and my GTP 1350.

I usually run my sens at 4 but in the wet sand I had to drop to 2-3 to stop false-ing.

It will start screaming when you hit the wet salt sand. Bring the sensitivity down till it stops fasing, about 3 or 4 should do. Swing very level. You will find things. Bury a coin and test how your MDer reacts to it. Good luck and send us pictures of your finds.
