My first 22k on last nights hunt

Last nights hunt, picked up my first 22k (4g) digging through the rocks, knee deep. I was using my Excal II that I just received from repairs.

:clapping: Sweet ring.

Any idea on how heavy it is in grams ?

Wow and congratulations, assayed in Birmingham England and I think hallmarked in 1967 but someone correct me if I'm wrong, not sure about the maker, is that HA or H&A, did you find it in the States?

Never found 22k.....yet!

Phil

Its Hallmark is a H (centre dot) A. Thinking it is a Henry Hyde Aston. 1862..1869 (registered Feb 1862) http://www.silvermakersmarks.co.uk/Makers/Birmingham-HA-HB.html
I did find an "S" that = an 1867 date! (www.gold-traders.co.uk/hallmarks) hmmm maybe this ring has been around awhile?
Thanks for looking :)

Now that is the site I was looking at to date the "S" but the shield is the wrong shape, but found this site with a ring that had the same shape shield as yours and it has been identified as 1968, which puts yours at 1967.

http://www.gold-traders.co.uk/blog/simple-gold-hallmark-guide/

And also if you put your "S" in the last S box on the Gold Traders Guide which is the one which most matches yours then it comes out again as 1967....but my logic could be wrong here so if someone wants to step in and correct, please feel free, we're all here to learn and share.

Thanks

Phil

Phil... the "S" in the photo you mentioned is not even close to mine. The 1967 box is pointy, mine has cut off corners like the 1849-1866 series. My only guess that my "S" is a carry over from 1866 which matches the maker 1862-1869. Maybe the maker did not get the e-mail on the shape change? Who knows lol.

Yes I know what you mean about the pointy box on the 1967 ring and you may be right, a carry over from 1866, but I was looking at the T on the 1968 ring as below and it is just like yours, we need a hallmark expert to step in here, come on guys, there must be an expert out there somewhere!

It's 1892 as the Bermingham mark matches that date & theres no queens head stamp  very nice find.
