My finds since buying my new SE Pro...

Which I purchased from Bill Paxton (thanks again!!!). I saw it for sale on the detector classifieds on this site. After acquiring the machine 3 weeks ago I have supplemented my hunting tool kit with a Garrett Propointer, a pair of Gray Ghost NDT headphones, and a Predator Tools Model 85 digger. Below are a few pics of some of my finds since the machine arrived... They include 2 large cents, a two cent piece, a bunch of indians, a few silver dimes, a silver quarter, a silver half, a bell, a couple of buttons, a bunch of wheaties and about $20 bucks in clad. Of course the typical pile of trash accompanied my finds.

I love this hobby!!! My goal is to find enough this year to cover the cost of my investment. I seem to be well on my way!!! If anyone is in or near central New York and wants to go hunting let me know!!!

The 1807 LC is my oldest coin to date. Can't really tell if it's a 1807/6 or not due to all the corrosion. The ground really messes with copper. Also, you can see where I hit the quarter with my digger. Stupid mistake but we all have to do it at least once!!!

Awesome stuff... Off to a great start with that SE.

Congrats silversniper. Looks like you and the SE are going to get along well together.

from the pic, the LC looks like 1807, awesome!!!

Dude, that sir, is one hell of an awesome result for three weeks with ANY new to you detector...Keep it up:beers: Impressive.

I would say it is an 1807 LC but what I was wondering is if it is a 1807 over 6. Some of the 1807's were struck on 1806's. They just struck a 7 over the 6. I can't tell for sure if it is or not. If it turns out to be then it will be somewhat valuable even in the condition it is in.

Great macro photography on the LG but with the narrow depth of field, the clear focus point is a little above the date and more on the middle of the coin. Do you have another shot with the date in the sweet spot of the focal plane?

Here you go, Bob. After taking these pics the 6 under the 7 becomes pretty apparent, I think.

Cool Kevin. I see it now. Looks like the 1807 over 6. Large 7 variety. Congrats on such a cool find. Great pics too.

Nice find, Sniper. My Red Book lists two varieties of the 1807 over 6 LC - Blunt 1 and Pointed 1. The book also has photos, with your coin looking like a Pointed 1 variety (?). Congrats on your finds. Johnny

VERY NICE :yo: I wish i could have had finds like that in my first three weeks!!!!! Keep up the good work!!!

Thanks everyone for the pats on the back. I used to hunt with a Garrett CXIII but sold it about 5-8 years ago (my memory isn't the best). Most of my learning about the hobby occurred then. Now I have to learn my Explorer. It has been extremely simple to this point. Now I need to focus on learning about the Iron Mask circuitry as well as the difference between "ferrous" and "conductive" sounds. I just received both of Andy Sabisch's books so they should get me up to speed.

Again, anyone in the central New York area feel free to contact me. Always looking for a good hunt!!!

SS,
Can you fill me in on the new Garrett pinpointer? How deep will it detect? The ads read like it has better depth than most pinpointers. Does it interfere with the SE or vice versa? What is your general opinion of the Garret? How much do they cost? It looks like a nice unit.
Thanks for the info.

Fang, I LOVE the Garrett. I never used a pin pointer when I used to hunt. Now that I have one I will NEVER hunt without one!!!

I did TONS of research when I was looking. Read every ad, every post , and every review. Almost bought the Pistol Pro. It is a PI unit and detects SUPER deep. The only reason I didn't opt for it is its' size. It is really big, compared to the Garrett.

My experience with the Garrett tells me that it picks up a coin at around 2-3 inches. That may not seem very deep but it seems to be plenty to me. It definitely has cut my recovery time in half. There may have been even more of a reduction in time. And, it indicates where in the hole the coin is so that it doesn't get gouged with a digger during recovery.

I have noticed NO interference between the Garrett and my SE. None. Even with the Garrett on and sitting within 6-8 inches from the coil on the SE.

The Garrett is rugged, water-resistant, and comes with a great holster. All around, a very good product. No complaints, whatsoever!!! Hope this helps.

It helps me, I was wanting something for the girlfriend to use with her SE, and she wasn't too keen on being teathered to the machine like I am with the X-1 probe. Thank you!!

LC is 1807 - clear as a bell in the photo (sometimes photos show more detail re the lighting)
