My Finds Over The Past Week

Sooper Dave

Well-known member
It's very dry here just like a lot of places. I went on some short hunts this week in the evenings and tried some shady yards that had more bare spots than grass. I picked up a few pieces of silver here and there, one rosie I found was with 5 memorials. I found the rosie first and every time I would run the probe and get a signal I thought yes another silver  I also found 2 Indians, 2 Buffalos and a handful of wheaties. I would like to go back to a couple of these places after we get some good rain so I can get to the main part of the yards. I have been doing a rain dance every night but I must be doing something wrong . HH Dave

Hi Dave:

Those are some good finds. I have only ever found one war nickel and always love finding Indians. I am curious about our dry ground conditions. How much effect does it have on locating finds? For example: In your experience have you detected in dry conditions and then went back after a good rain or two and found a lot of things that were undetected when it was dry?

Congrats on your finds and thank you for your kind replies to our posts. We do have a lot of fun detecting and be able to share it with all of you makes it even more fun!! Have a great day!!

It seems a lot of folks believe you gain some depth when the ground is wet. I know it sure makes digging easier to get to those targets. I do think the numbers seem to change a little in both real dry and real wet soil. I noticed my copper coins had numbers that would bounce more but the silver still screams out. I have only had my Etrac for a year. Maybe someone with more time on it would have a better answer. Thanks for reply, I have enjoyed reading about all the fun hunts y'all have been on this month.

Great finds! I personally have not ever experienced any depth loss from dry ground, I am still getting deep signals, the main problem with dry ground is that you cant dig in private yards because it will kill the grass

Nice pile of finds !

Awesome finds Dave, you been on a nice little roll, hopefully we can keep it going Sunday.
