I finally got my finds from the GNRS cleaned up and ready to display. I could`nt get one of the nice confederate buttons under my coil but I dug a few backs one of which would have been, I dug some flat buttons, found a couple pipe bowls as I was diggin to bad they a both broken, I dug a first the US bit boss, and the fennel beside it I can`t figure out what it may have went to as it`s like the ones that come off scabbard tips but it`s to big,Had fun and saw a bunch of old friends and met a few more such as David Kieth, glad you made it out of the quick sand so you could make the hunt. It was nice to talk with you David hopefully we`ll cross trails again....HH..Bruce

GNRS stand for and how can a fella get hooked up at such a hunt? Any imfo would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah, I discovered that Virginia does have quick sand. I was in a real jam when I stepped into it. Thought I was a goner. That stuff sticks to anything like Elmers glue..lol. I'm not sure what your finial went to. From the size I wonder if it could be off a brass bed frame? However, if you look real close, is there wear on the tip end? Could also be from a guidon (small flag staff finial). I dug a lot of relics but nothing great. My fav's are: Brass Naval under plug from the Ft Hood bombardment; large frags from 100 lb Parrot and 13" shells; bullets and buttons from within Ft Powhatan; Silver flat button, and a few unidentified brass pieces. Saw some very nice CS buttons dug. We'll get some next time. Good hunting, David @ Dixie
