My Final F4 Report

I won't keep jumping in here wasting all you nice folks time unless I have a real important question. I used my F4 today again with the DD coil and was amazed with the accuracy of the id. So I am thinking that my round coil has a problem. Between my wife using it (she loves to detect as much as I do) and myself in the last 2 days we have found 6 rings,20 or so quarters,a bunch of nickels, dimes & pennies. I can honestly say that the F4 is even better than I expected it could be. It sure has brought the fun back into detecting. I thank all of you for your comments, opinions and answers. Steve (upstate New York).

You jump in here as much as possible as I appreciate all information in our great hobby!

A lot of guys might be thinking about buying an F4. Everyone likes to hear about the good and bad when a new machine is introduced. Let us know if the 8" coil was bad or if it just doesn't perform as well.

The 11" DD coil has more punch and cut thru bad ground better than the 8" concentric. The ID problems of the 8" coil could be that it sees more targets at once than the 11" DD coil in trash.
Try to do an air test with the 8" coil and check if you reach the depth i got. F4 Page

The 4" bounty hunter nugget coil is a must have for the F4. The 4" coil is just $30 to $40.

Fact is both new fisher detectors (F75 and F4) are better than we expected. I still have both and that is a good sign.

If you don't mind, some questions....First and formost, how does the F 4 Pinpoint? Does it have VCO Pinpointing? If not, would you say it pinpoints like the ID Edge?......Does the Tone ID and Number ID give out at about the same depth. I understand these are on seperate circuts? Will the F 4 correctly Tone and number ID a common penny at 8" in an air test? Thanks

Thanks[/quote] Hi poorman, I am not familiar with the ID Edge, I have been a Tesoro man for along time & I will say say the F4 doesn't come close to the pinpointing of the Cibola I had. It is totally different but once figued out it is not bad at all. I haven't played around with "air" testing because in my opinion this doesn't mean a thing - what counts is how it does in the ground. What I will say is the F4 with the DD coil is a very accuracte instrument, and alot of fun to use. You can read in reviews & on some forums that so and so can accurately id a quarter/dime/or penny/etc. at 18" or 20" with this brand detector or that brand detector. This is bull - I can honestly say that the F4 is the most accurate ID'ing & fun to use detector that I have ever had. Like I said I am a Tesoro man but I do love the F4 & I wouldn't get rid of it for anything. Steve...

Both with the proto. & with the production unit, I found the 8" concentric to perform, depth wise very close to the 11" DD, here in my soil. I did make a couple of post about it here a while back.

No one really believes that they would send a new unit out with coils that don't perform well on them, do we ?? There's always a chance that a individual coil can be bad, but they certainly wouldn't introduce a new model with coils that wouldn't perform good, at least not by choice.

Have no fear, the F4 will perform very well with any coil it has. :super:

Let's see, we have a 10", 8", 7", 4" concentric, and a 11" DD elliptical. Thats one hellava choice for a detector in this price range.
