My family gave me awesome metal detecting gear for my birthday yesterday

I was born on Halloween night and my wife and kids surprised me with such a sight. A new Predator tool and metal detecting cap!
I am such a lucky guy.

Thanks Guys, I liked the idea of the Predator Raven for some of the softer free of large stone soil I encounter, I will still carry the Lesche Digger and Lesche Sampson Mini for other times.

I will... It has to do better than the Lesche Digging tool for getting the soil out of the bottom of the hole, but I usually use my secret weapon for removing that soil at the bottom, that secret weapong is a plastic ice scream scoop! Best $1.99 tool I have for cleaning out the bottom.

I use an ice cream scoop, also, but mine is made from aluminum. This Idaho ground can be hard and rocky. I need to find one of those high density hard plastic ones though. Where'd you get it?

Happy Birthday! You will like the Predator model 31 much better than the Lesche. I have not used my Lesche digger since I got the Predator over 2 years ago. Hope you have many more Happy Birthdays HH

that's good to hear about the tool, I look forward to trying it out but its pretty wet today so I won't get to detect at lunch. I bought the ice cream scoop from Kmart it is some tough plastic for sure, I have only ever lost them before breaking them oe wearing them down

Happy belated birthday!
I got my predator as a (last year) birthday gift as well and absolutely love it! It cuts and scoops the soil very well. Lifts very clean plugs. It cut my retrieval time (in parks and such) in half as compared to standard leshie type knife.
