Well it seems if I may have a dud for some reason, i went outside and sat the explorer on a 4ft high tree stump, and nothing happened so this weekend I will drive 400KM to my nearest Minelab dealer to compare mine with another. Regardless itll get fixed up and the Explorer is still the BEST detecter there is. Has anyone else out there experienced any problem liek this????

What is supposed to happen when you set a Minelab on a stump? Does yours have wheels or something?

I have some tree stumps that I need to pull out in the front yard, I'll give my explorrer a try!
Just funnin!

Finally,
I have been waiting for some one to try this and I see you go the same result. I also tried this on a three foot high garden statue and guess what?
Nothing happened. I have yet to try my garret and gt16000 in the same way. Stay tuned.

My stomach hurts from laughing so hard! <IMG SRC="/forums/images/smile.gif" BORDER=0 ALT=":)"> Not so much from Pete's post, but from your guys responses! lol

Hmmm, I think maybe you do.. one time I was hunting in the woods, when I felt nature call, so I leaned my explorer againgst a tree.. when I was done and I put my headphones on, the cable moved the detector a bit.. I heard a signal and digging down where the coil was I got a large cent.. true story.. so you better get yours checked

LOL everyone, i sat my detector on the stump that was in the yard so it was away from any metal, and tried to detect some coins in the air by waving it over the coil then layin the coins on the stump and seing if it worked then and it didnt. Any way Ill get it sorted out and this group has a wealth of information for people like me know know absolute nothing about detecting. Ill bne posting some finds soon. When I get the detector working that is.

That is weird,is it possible that you have the whole screen blacked out(discriminated)?

So far Im not smiling as yet anyway, well hopefully by Monday I will have an answer and ill let ya all know what the problem is.

sorry dud but it sounds like you got STUMPED AGAIN what is this some talking apple tree from the wizard of oz? well i quess we all get stumped once in awhile
