My experience with THE BIGMA yesterday....

Went to a local supplier yesterday and asked to see the Sigma 50-500.
As I examined it and spun the zoom ring in and out I noticed that while zooming the lens it felt as if it had sand paper in the zooming mechanism and was not very smooth. The salesman looked perplexed. Right out of the unopened box......
Then to top it off the salesman sounded like Keith Richards when he spoke to me. I could barley understand him.

Not sure why it would be so rough sounding. The zoom is not as smooth as the focus ring but not like sandpaper. I think you are use to using those super fine Nikon lens. My Bigms is not as smooth as my 80-200 but still not that rough. Could have been a bad copy but that seems unlikely..So far I'm pleased with mine but still thinking what my next lens will be.I'm thinking of a prime of at lest 400 mm
