My evaluation on the ace 350

DENNIS IN NY D

New member
fisrt tell you about me i have been detecting for 40 yrs have had all most all detectors made

likes- the dd coil is a nice coil but get use to getting steel bottle caps i did not find anyway to tell they where caps and not a good target

dislikes- do not like how the lumpped the coins under just a few segments unlike the 250 that is each cion in a segment

here go's what i think- the detector is ok but as i said do not like all the under one or two segments, like the dd coil and like how you can work right up to a chain link fence, do not like that you can not tell any way the it might be a steel bottle cap . like some other detectors that you just whip it and if it breaks up its a cap and on some other ones you get a low tone hight tone then low tone and a coin gives all high tone.i tryed to whip it but at that point you lose the belltone. all and all if i hade a 250 i would just spend 140.00 and get the coil ,i do not think the 8.25 mhz is any different than the 6mhz that i could see maybe if it had been 14 or 15 mhz it would have made a differance

i will be putting it up for sale to day !!! dennis in ny

From what I could tell using it, it's not a coin hunters machine. It will find coins but it's really set up to give relic hunters more info to work with. I'm not much on hunting relics either, but when I do, this little rig should hold it's own. I dug a couple of pennies that were a good 6"+ that it hit with no problem, having to go thru a 2" layer of caliche (can be nasty stuff) from an old parking lot. I've got a spot that sometimes gives up a few CW relics that I hope to be able to get to this weekend and see if theres anything the 350 can find that my Tejon didn't. Sounds like you'll like the AT Pro better with it's rolling tones on bottlecaps. Being a water hunter thru the summer, I get pretty used to digging bottlecaps, gotta scoop it all to get the gold!!

Thanks for the info Dennis.
As I just mentioned under one of BCD threads, a steel bottle cap will give itself way as you wiggle the coil towards yourself. As the tip passes over the target, it should give off a low tone and reading. I haven't seen a detector yet, that that hasn't worked on.
Good luck with the new detector.
Mick Evans.

my past 2 machines were DD coil machines and I dug lots and lots of Bottle caps ..........I now have the 2500 and with only 10 hours of hunt time so far....... not one Bottom cap......after the 1st 4 hours I thought the 2500 was broken because I did not have a hand full of bottle caps.
