My Etrac Wont Turn On.

Was going to be the 1st hunt of the year but the etrac just clicks when you push the button and then a 2nd click and no screen at all, I tried it when I put the battery in and it started normal but when I got to my site just got the clicks. I also tried the reset per owners manual (pushing ON button for 3 seconds) and just got the click. Anybody else have this happen? I am sure it will need to be sent in for repair, what BAD timing.

Dumb question but are you sure that the battery has suffucient charge? I have had chargers and batteries go bad that show a battery is charged when its actually not. Also have gotten dead batteries right out of the package as well. Hope you get it figured out though.

Hold some pressure on the back of the battery pack when you turn it on--just pushing on the ceneter of the rubber cover is enough. I think the contact springs down in the handle get weak or dirty and sometimes that interfers with the flow of current

The springs also get rusty , a warning to you all don't put your E.T's in a damp place for months on end . Sounds like it is the springs , open up the side screws and split the control box stem enough to get at the springs , then gently stretch them a bit . Its no guaranty but it might work.

Before sending it off, test the batteries with a meter. Or try alkaline batteries.

Every great once in a while my eTRAC will power off and not power back on.....until
A quick slap to the control box always fixes it.

As mentioned could just be the internal spring battery contacts or some connector inside the control box.
Now than my eTRAC is out of warranty, one of these days i'm gonna take a peek inside that control box and see what makes it tick.

I am going to send it in, 3 years and 3 weeks from the date of purchase. I wish they would put an hour meter on them, mine was not used that much.

That really sucks! A friend had his click off as well but it was only a year old. Control panel repair.
Keep us posted on the verdict , please.

I would first try tugging gently on the springs with a long bent wire. If that doesn't work then it's possible that Sofia can get it turned on? Not sure how mechanical she is?

I know this is an old post but I am having the same issue. I was wondering what the problem was and how much the repair was.

I'd like to know also.
Some people seek advice here with problems and then don't bother to post the followup resolution that would be helpful to others with similar problems.
Lets wait and see now that this thread is resurrected.

thats internet wide. not just here. i always try to follow up...for that reason. its so frustrating to read all about someones problem and experiencing the same thing and then the thread just stops....

Well sorry for not posting the results of the problem, they replaced the face plate and a module if I remember right. 3 years later it has happened again, same exact thing, powered on with a charged battery and get to the hunting spot (1st of the season) and it just clicks. Makes me think its like programed to do this every 3 years. Really disappointing.

You got a answer and that is cool. My new etrac is nulling them humming and I think it may be large iron or something. I may do a reset. Still finding neat stuff, but I do have two other detectors I use too.
