My end of the year totals for 2008

Mark in S.E. IA

New member
Hi guys, it's that time of the year to add up the totals for 2008. My totals are down some from last year, but I still had a great year. It's getting harder to find good places to hunt. All of the finds were found with the X-50 and the 10.5 MF DD coil, I just love that coil.

1 Large Cent 1836
1 Canadian LC 1920
47 IH's
440 wheats

1 sheild Nickel
13 V's
20 Buff's
10 War nickels

2 Seated Dimes
9 Barbers
33 Merc's
25 Rosies

2 Seated Quarters
1 Barber
4 SL's
10 Washingtons

1 Barber HD
1 WL
2 Ben Franklins

1 Spanish Colonial 2 Reale 1782 " my best coin of the year"
1 GB 2 Shilling 1943

11 Tokens
1 gold ring
10 silver rings
1 heavy silver chain
$153.50 in clad
and a whole lot of trash

Here is a pic of some of the better coins

Thanks for lookin and Good Luck to everybody in 2009

Wow! You had a fantastic year! Congrats on your hunting! I hope you have a great 2009, Beale.

Mark, very nice haul over all, you have the work ethic and perseverance that it takes!!!

Where do you sell your coins for the best price or do you collect them instead?

In your photo, the coin on the top right looks like a Canadian(not the 1 Canadian LC 1920) or British, King George silver coin?

I have a X-70 and want to get that 10.5 MF DD coil soon also.

I am thinking a 10.5 LF(3kHz) DD coil would be better than the MF on high conductive silver and copper coins, a bit deeper, and reject low conductive trash(iron and aluminum) better. The only draw back is it maybe harder to find some low conductive gold, like very thin rings and chains. Finding gold rings and jewelry is rare anyway.

Do you think a 10.5 LF(3kHz) DD coil would help you in your coin hunting situation more if it was available?

Thanks Beale

Thanks David,
I MD as much as I can.

No, I don't sell any of my finds.

The coin in the top right of the pic is the GB 2 Schilling 1943. The Canadian LC is not in the picture.

I bought the 10.5" MF DD coil 2 1/2 years ago when it first came out and I just love it. It goes deep and covers alot a area fast and it finds the old silvers, coppers and nickels. I also have had some good luck at finding deep gold with it in the past.

As far as the LF coils I can't say. I have never used one and they don't work on the X-50. I'm very happy with the 10.5 MF DD coil, it finds what I'm looking for, lol

Congrats on some nice finds. As a fellow Iowan, I'm especially impressed with that 1782 2-Reale! (and the large cent) Again, nice finds. HH Randy

Thanks Digger, We do have a few old coins in Iowa, but nothing like what the guys back east have.

Thanks trtkjd1.

Thanks G4e, Yep, I have been lurking around this forum since Dec of 05 and joined about 2 years ago, but as you can see I don't post very often.
