My Eagle 11 Sl quit today . What to do????

Hi all, My Eagle 11 Sl 90 quit today. I was at a park and doing fine when it just went blank. I put in new battery's, even tested them to be sure they were up to the 4.8 v that I needed, and it still wont come on. Can anyone tell me how much deference there is in the black box 90, and the older blue box? Will the blue box work as good as the black box? The black box Eagle is hard to find. I am going to call Whites and see about how much it would cost to fix, even if they can work on it. Thanks all

If you don't smell anything burnt I would check ribbon plug connection. If you don't have any luck getting it working or repaired. I have a blue box eagle 2 with eagle 2 sl board in it. I would sell, trade.

Just a thought... check the prongs inside the battery box to make sure the are making a solid connection. Otherwise you should send it in for repair.

Hi Digger, I checked the prongs and pulled them out a little, that didn't help. I guess I will try and send it in,it is a very nice detector.

On my dads we had to cut a thin strip of hard plastic that fits over the battery (same width and height of the battery pack end) so that when you close the battery cover it pushes the battery "snug" inside the detector. Try that and see if it works.

The black box is an upgrade from the blue...handle configuration...both should operate about the same. The 90 version has a few more settings I believe. Shouldn't be too much and could be an easy fix. My brother took his MXT to Centreville Electronics for no sound. Cost was $74. I would definitely send it in...or you can sell it to me!! LOL!

Flintstone,
White's. Still works on the Eagles...(as of May 2017) i was checking into doing the same for a black box eagle i thought had probs..
They said $80 for the basic repair ( plus labor and maybe little more for parts if needed) and $20 to return ship to the lower 48states
Just incase you need to.....oh ... Thats the factory at Sweet Home Oregon...
Good luck....Hope you get 'er fixed...! I love my eagle!

Hi All, just to let every.one know, I think it is the battery holder. I tested it and the middle is not putting out any power. I ordered a new one and hope it will fix my trouble. If not, I will send it to Whites, I love my Eagle and a good one is hard to come by. flintstone

Got my new battery holder and that fixed my Eagle, and my 6000 Di Pro. Must of been going bad for awhile, I was buying new battery's a lot, now the ones that was weak and didn't work good work just fine now. If anyone is having trouble with there detector not going deep or just don't seam right, check the battery holder. My holder looked fine and made the detector come on fine but must of been like running on 1/2 power. Made it work but just not like it should. The bottom of holder has a wire under the cardboard or what ever that is, and must get bad. I know the new holder made my Eagle work like a new one. Thanks for all the replies from everyone. flintstone

Glad you got it working again

Good for you. !!! Flintstone!
Nice that it was an easy an pretty much inexpensive fix......i. Will probably go ahead and order a couple new battery holders for my 6000di pro and eagle 2 sl 90. Just incase ....good going !
And
Happy (continued) Hunting-!!!!
