I just got my dual field back from being repaired the coil was defective. I took it to the beach and i heard what i think were pulses is that normal i didnt here it before

You may be also have been hearing oscillation sounds caused by EMI. If you were at a new beach where you have never been before it may have had a constant EMI, or if it came and went it could have been emi from passing vehicles or something. Otherwise more irregular oscillation might occur if your sensitivity is a bit high and you can turn it down so that you hear the softer signals better.

Since I got my DF back from Whites being repaired I've had to start running my sensitivity down around 10 - 11:00 on the dial to maintain a smooth threshold. I used to be around 1 - 2 and could still hear those deep wispers. One thing that I do is to go into the box and turn up the volume full blast by turning that screw in there, I wonder if that's a no no.

I'm curious about that adjuster screw too, havn't touched it yet, didn't even know it was a volume control.
Any info appeciated
