i guess with all beaches sanded in i'll show some of my sand sifters, one i float with me in the river, lakes an at the beach if water is smooth, the other is used working dry sand and makes it easier to find targets.

when using your floating sifter do you use a water scoop to dump the sand or gravel in or a shovel?

I used to use a P.V.C.float but it was too heavy,I built a 16" frame with 1/4 inch mesh, and used a swimming noodle for floatation,my PVC float was 10 pounds my noodle float ia 3 pounds.

yea i use my water scoop , by habit mostly, but if the water gets a lil rough in surf i can park the sifter n not have to make a trip to truck get scoop I'll beach the sifter n keep on plundering.

How did you fasten the wire screen to the pipe? Looks like wire ties to me. If so, what did you do to protect yourself from the sharp edges of the screen?

Looks like you use a piece of webbing strap to carry it. Do you also use that as a lanyard to attach to your belt? I have found that a piece of 3/8" shock (bungee) cord works better for a lanyard. If there is some wave action it doesn't snap so much.

I fastened the webbing strap to opposite sides and have an adjuster thingie so I can make it short as the screen or long enough to use as a carrying strap.

As you said, does not work well in the surf.

i use pull ties as fastners n i roll the wire 3/4 way around the pipe, then when i cut the ties i use a lighter to melt sharp edges
