My dream machine,,,

Simply a analog CZ with a 1-100 meter and a toggle for either VCO or regular pinpointing. Seems like Fisher is on a F series kick and doubt if we will ever see one and perhaps just a dream machine after all...

Hi Dan

I go along with that 50/50. There's a lot to be said for analog audio over digital audio. I feel that the analog audio allows more information to pass on to the listener, where digital is a yes/no response.

On the manufacturing side it's financially beneficial to go digital because it's faster, lighter, and generally doesn't involve a large, educated work force. One can do more with digital such making changes on the fly, many more user adjustments. It's here to stay. With analog, circuit changes, user or manufactured, require it be mechanically done.

Example: CZ series Fishers. Actual manufacturing cost of a CZ must be 4 to 6 times the cost of a digital unit such as the F75. That's why the demise of the CZ, (for the most part).

I agree with the VCO toggle for pinpoint. I think I hear more target info with non-VCO. Is that why you would want a toggle?

Yepper every machine should have that toggle...Although VCO does a great job more info can be had with regular pinpointing to dig or not...and with practice just as accurate especially if one detunes..While reading a product report from a competent tester that was his recommendation also...
