Out today finishing off a spot and hit an old standby where I got the old coins. Tried for a ring, but not today. I did get some cheap bling and some relics.

And....an unknown object....Off a fence post? A flag pole? Not sure, but it has a nice design on it. :)

Thanks....fist fishy of the year. Those fishies astound me. There should be more of them then quarters out there, yet so hard to find. Is it their smaller size, do they sink out of reach? Have most of them been found by others? Where are they all?

It feels a little strange commenting on your finds John. I remember starting in this hobby and you were one that I turned to for advice about five years ago. Anyway, sweet finds. I actually find far more fish than the old Georgie five large nickels. But that also coincides with mintage numbers I believe. I got 6-8 ? fish last year, my best ever and three so far this year. The only reason for that is because I have a farm field that had huge activity and it keeps spitting out a fish now and then. In town I rarely find a fish. I only found one in town this year. But with a pop. of 30,000 I am thanful for that. I also believe that finds are getting harder to locate considering that even Sask. here has been slammed hard for decades by skilled detectorists. It's a little disheartening when I think about it. But I figure that no one gets everything and I fiddle fart around out there and manage to find one that slipped by, now and then. I am more or less treading water until my best field is cropped of wheat. Last year it was Lentils and smooth as a babies bum. This falls wheat stubble will make it a little more difficult to swing in. Still looking forward to it though. I am actually amazed that you still manage to pull oldies out of Edmonchuck. That place has hobbiests hammering it all the time. When I stop to consider that fishscales are smaller and thinner than a dime, and particularly if on edge, they can be a very tiny target. Just my best guess as to why they are elusive.... and so rewarding when one of the little boogers pops out.
