My Detecting Pouch..

I am so pleased with the system I have developed to carry my tool & finds while metal detecting I thought I would post it here that others might find it helpful.
I started with the usual carpenters nail pouch of thin cotton but it was too thin & far from perfect for my use. Somehow I came into a Telephone Linesman Pouch. This is a white Heavy Canvas open bag about 10" deep 8" wide, & 2" thick (sorta "U" shaped from the front. (Made of front & back panels with a Strip sewn between) It has wire reinforcement along the top open edge & 2- 6" straps on back starting in a "D" ring & ending in a clip hook. These I feed over my belt & clip back to D rings. I attached a 3"X5" cloth bag inside the front forward edge for coins & such. I found the opening was too wide so I added a short strap across the center of the bag which clips at the front. holding the bag closed but allow it to open for cleaning. It also holds my digging tool, gloves, & ground cloth upright. Next I added a length of nylon web strap along the outward panel sewn & riveted into loops to hang my tiny folding entrenching tool and accessories, then a patch of Velcro to stick my Pin-Pointer on.
Looking down from top it looks like a figure 8 w/ my cloth & digger in the rear opening & my 'Treasure Bag" in the front (along with a few surveyor flags when I carry them, these I cut under 8" tall). and leaves room to drop in my trash to the bottom. I added a small towel hanging from the rear of the center strap along w/ a compass-thermometer.
This is a work in progress & is surely likely to change further, but as of now it is perfect for my use & I can even leave it on while driving. It holds ALL the gear I need afield readily handy at belt level on my left side so well that I find I don't even look at it whether standing or kneeling...
Reading this back I think I have too much time on my hands.... lol... DOC
