My Dec. 31st Finds!!

Hit my great-aunts yard, she died this last year and it is for sale, so I'll hit it while I can. These are a few of my finds. All of the religious medals were in the same hole, and there actually used to be one more of the very small gold ones, but I lost it either in her yard or while doing cleanup. I dunno. The large gold, I'm guessing gold-plated (most likely a compact cover) was dug at 10" easily. It came out of the ground shining as much as the picture. In this yard I was digging 1910 and up wheaties at 6", so this compact cover could be pretty old. I also found a little silver. Plan on returning on Friday to go over it again.

You did real good this month, I expect some VERY nice displays at the January meeting.

Those are really nice finds. Hard to believe it was last year already. :detecting:

Nice finds. The round gold colored piece looks victorian. I'm not sure its plated. If it is a plated compact I would expect to see some wear spots in the plating. Also, could it be the cover from a womans pocket type watch? If so its probably gold.

I agree with Daryl. That sure is a pretty gold "thing". Whatever it is, I too think if it's plated, you would see wear marks. Very nice finds and I'm so glad you could get out again. HH Friday and keep us posted on your finds and thanks for sharing them with us. Nancy

It sounds like it is time you made friends with a jeweler and get a test done on that compact lid, it sure looks like gold to me. If I can remember, I can bring our gold tester to the next meeting.

Your doing well Nathan...nice finds for sure...get back there and find the other half of that case! Good Luck!
