ok so my hubby and I were out at silver hill...we found this stuff...some clad a silver plated earring and a gold plated eifel tower. now for the story..

.so there were some workers doing some construction on the other side of the place. when they were ready to leave.....knowing we were out there for a while now....one of the workers came up to us and said..." I dont think you guys are allowed to do that" my hubby asked " why not?" Worker replies.."Because it is school property and you guys are just digging up everywhere" :look: i see no holes. we fill all our holes and are very careful what we do.........back to story....my hubby just kinda looked at him funny. worker then says " I am going to write down your lincense plate number and if anything comes up missing...." talking about the construction site....my hubby stops him in mid sentence and says "we are not thieves. besides we werent even planning on going over there." worker again replies " just in case" my reply to the worker " whatever do what you want. "

My 120 pound Rottweiler hunts with me so I wouldn't likely have that problem but I would put him in his place fast. Dan

Hi Dobbie. Sadly, we sometimes are harrassed by ignoramuses with inflated egos and
misplaced feelings of importance who think it's their job to "police" the small little world
they exist in. Not much we can do except ignore them or tell them to mind their own
business, which has nothing to do with yours.
Keep on keepin' on and Happy Hunting!

I would have asked him If I could come over to his place and look for stuff in the yard. I wouldn't be smart about it and ask him seriously. (I Love doing stuff like that, people don't know how to react)

Hi Dobbie, Sorry you had a problem. I detect on construction sites alot,
and in their defense, at this time with the price of scrap being what it is
a job site is filled with easy cash. You would be suprised how much
comes up missing .

Terri

First off the property is school property. The construction guy I would advise him that as a tax payer you have no intentions on destroying the school grounds.I would further ask him for his name and make a point of making a complaint about of him accusing you of taking his equipment.

ya i know its schools property...the principle knows we go out there due to my hubby knowing her from he son going to that school all 8 years. we were not the only ones out there either. we were just the only ones with MDs. I just didnt like the fact he insuated i was a thief. and would steal anything besides when we first got there we actually talked to some of the workers about MDing. oh i see i forgot the pics here they are sorry i was tired when i posted this.

Hey Dobbie, A friend of mine found one of those, and his turned out to be Sterling silver. Yours is gold plated, but look for some marks on it. Maybe it's gold plated over Sterling. Nice finds. But I see you've made some interesting friends there? Don't let them get to you. Sometimes these wanna be ENFORCERS get pretty big, when they throw on an Orange vest. I usually let them know that, if they want, in addition to my plate, they can contact my lawyer. I offer his name and number and then ask him for HIS plate and name. It usually gets my point across. Some people think they can enforce imaginary laws that they make up. Kinda makes them look important. But sometimes you have to let them have it back. Not saying you should do this, just what I do, and only when they are really rude to me. HH and don't let the idiots bite!

i plan on hunting it again. there hasnt been one time out there we havnt found a piece of jewelry either sterling or plated gold or silver. we got alot of foil there to though.

What a jerk !!

I know what you mean, the first time I went detecting at the High School the person who mows the lawns got after me for digging, I told him "well the principal said I could so I'm staying"

you sure handled that a lot better than i would have! at 6'3", 240 lbs., i don't have very many enemies, and would have directly put that wanna be enforcer in his little place. usually a well timed scowl works. he's prolly just mad 'cause he couldn't get off work to detect it! haha! whatachump! dobbie rules and da chump drools! hh,

Dobbie,

I'm a Law Enforcement Officer and next time you are there, get close enough to the construction site and when they say something rude again, tell them this.....I'm going to call the police now and report you for littering. I see all the food wrappers and trash all over. I sure hope you plan on cleaning up your mess.....Dobbie, kinda makes it funny that when you leave a place, it still looks like you were never there. When they leave a place, it looks like a dump. I hope one day I run into the same thing of someone asking for my vehicle plate. I would love to ask them if they would like my badge number also...
