The thing in the bottom picture is part of a jaw harp or Jew's Harp.

Jbow's right on the bottom piece. It's an old Jaw harp. Congratulations on the finds and I'll "PRE" thank you for the video and slip on over and watch it. Thanks for providing that as well.

Thank you! I was lost on what I had.The coin,I still have no idea.Something old though..Thanks for viewing :)

Nice having you join us on our third sold out weekend.
I remember your hand shaking when you reached into your pouch to show me that coin - I thought it looked like a King Georges.

The group pulled out over 25 coppers this weekend including a number of KG's, CT coppers and large cents.
There were tons of colonial period buttons, a few pieces of pre 1900 silver and a few Navy buttons too.

The find of the week was on Sunday and it was a 1790 spanish half reale in amazing condition.

The field was very clean and my E-Trac sensitivity was running at 25-27 in Auto +3 most of the time.
If you worked it slow and low - there were many good targets to be found. Opening up your screen was the right move - you don't want to use too much discrimination in a clean farm field. Personally, I use 2 tone FE - with just some disc on the FE 01 line - the Gaz set-up. I worked areas where some of the others were "flying by" with coils over 6" off the ground and cleaned up their misses with some nice finds myself.

There were many "firsts" for people this weekend - from the reale to a CT copper - it was a pleasure having everyone come out and join us to support a worthy cause.

Man, you know you got a large cent there, right? I can make out the ONE CENT with the wreath around it and can see the lettering. Probably braided hair. Great stuff.

Very cool finds... The item that appears to be a jaw harp is actually a redneck outlet tester. Simply insert either end into the + and - side of outlet and if you see sparks and get zapped, the outlet is LIVE.. LOL JK.

Looks as like you had a good time.

hello im new to the forum and i just got the etrac and got some hunts before the snow even found some silver
what hunt are you discussing and what cause?
we, husband and i and we both detect, live in WNY and it sounds like the type of hunt we are interested in rather than the peppered type hunts
we thought all sponsered club hunts were peppered with coins and prizes but although we understand the need to raise money by clubs, these type of hunts donot do it for us because there are no surprises which we live for in detecting
looking forward to your reply since i am still having visions about detecting even as the snow is falling and the tempeatures dip
