My daughters is finding silver!

Though I love going MDing with my 14 year-old daughter, I was getting bummed out recently as she was finding all the silver with the Bounty Hunter Tracker IV and I was finding zincolns and pull tabs. I know we are a team, but I was wondering what was going on--was it just luck? In the last month she found the 1939 half dollar and two solver rings next to each other--all very shallow. So what did I do  Since she is a teenager and likes to sleep late, I went out to a new place early Sunday morning while she was still asleep, and hunter with the "V", though I was tempted to take the BH IV. Well without her finding all the silver this time, I found a crushed Yankee ring (in NC!) that I broke slightly when trying to straighten it out. It had small stones or glass, but it seemed to be pewter or some other base metal, but not silver. A little while later found a fairly old tree that looked like it had a lot of people playing around it over the years. I got a signal and immediately found a silver Rosie dime, then another, then another, and finally a fourth silver Rosie dime. Made my day. Hope she will still hunt with me next weekend!

Probably will; if you wait for her to get up. Cherish every moment you two are sharing now. It is all too soon that children, particularly daughters, meet someone who becomes the center of their universe. It sometimes takes a little while for the revised relationships to normalize. The times spent together when she found silver and you didn't will be fondly remembered!

Congrats on the silver you both found!!
Cheers,
tvr

Andy you are a good teacher your daughter is a chip off the old block. and your finds are great as well under the old tree i know of one i think i will take your advice and get over to the neghbors

Thats pretty bad you cheating on your daughter like that, must have been a EGO THING!!!!!

Sounds like she likes to kick your butt. I wish I was lucky like you to have someone to hunt with. You are one lucky man. Reward her for being your hunting friend... KEN

I think the time spent with our kids, and the friends we make along the way, are the greatest treasures this hobby has to offer. Nothing else even comes close, at least for me.

Thanks for all your comments. I agree. When my daughter wants to go hunting with me it makes my day. I only hope she doesn't get bored too soon.

My wife and oldest son go with me 90% of the time. It is awesome to share the experience with them. Also we turn it into a competition which makes it interesting. My youngest son thinks metal detecting is a waist of time. I guess we are not all meant to be seekers.

My older daughter and wife are not interested at all in going out hunting, but my wife is always interested in what we find. I am afraid my younger daughter is burning out on MDing a little bit and would rather visit her girl friends!
