My dad wants an E-Trac

My dad started me into this hobby about 6 months ago simply because he thought it would be fun. Well anyways, me and him both became addicted quickly with our first Bounty Hunter Pioneer 505 which actually turned out to be a great machine. I wanted something more so I bought a Minelab X-Terra 70 and I absolutely love it, my dad also finds it very easy to use and we have found some gold with it, no silver yet. Anyways my dad wants to get another machine so we can both hunt at the same time and he mentioned an E-Trac. My question is, how hard is the machine to use right out of the box? Can the programs it comes with perform well and still pick out silver coins at good depths? Would people here be willing to share some programs to help us get set up?

Thanks guys/gals

Put the E-Trac together turn it on and hunt. Now that is about as easy as it gets. I have'nt had mine very long and I hunt with a modified factory coin program and like the machine very much. I used a Safari for about 2 years before getting the E-Trac and that helped. If you have a problem bring it to this forum and these fine ladies and gentelmen will help you out. HH :minelab:

Very simple to use. The Etrac is only as hard to use as you want it to be. If you stick to the factory program (ie. coins mode) to start you will find lots of treasure right out of the box. The only suggestions other than that I would make is............
1. leave in auto sensitivity for awhile
2. open up the upper right hand corner of the screen
3. fast on.....deep off
4. read Andy's book
If you stick to this for the first say 40 hours of hunting you will then be familiar with the tones and the basic functions of the machine. That is what I did when starting out and worked like a charm. Another thing to try is when you get signals, play with different settings to see what this powerful monster will do in your soil conditions.

Ps. The Etrac is only as good as the site your in.......not all sites produce silver and other goodies!!

IF you dont like it....you can always sell it...no problem. Like any machine...practice practice!

I have been out with mine maybe 15-20 times. I use the turn on and go technique. I'll probably stay with that this season, then start learning more over the winter. Good luck!
