My CZ3D hip mount setup

I tried out the hip mount option with my new CZ3D tonight and love it. Super light swinging. While testing it, I got lucky and found a 1909 S Lincoln cent in surprisingly nice condition. :twodetecting:

Here's a pic of the hip-mounted unit. I used my diving belt. It's thin enough to slip through the belt holder on the detector and has a clamp buckle so you get the belt as tight as you want.

Hip mounting any unit is a different ballgame and takes practice but analog CZ's sure have a nice built in mount...

I would caution you to run the coil wire under your belt before affixing to the control box and leave a little leeway in case you jerk the wire which can cause the solder joints to fail.

Not into appraising men bodies but you seen to be a well built fellow judging by the pictures and should be able to handle the stock 8 inch coil and would work on keeping the coil closer to your body to make the unit more ergonomic thus eliminating the hipmount unless of course you use the 10.5 coil which in most case makes the unit nose heavy.

All in all whatever works is the name of the game and if you swung a hickory stick for hours it would get heavy so its all a matter of conditioning the muscles you use in the swing...

Thanks, Dan. I'll make sure to run the coil wire under my belt. My right shoulder is the picture of severe degenerative joint disease. My doctor wants to replace it immediately, but I want to use it for a while longer. That's why my CTX3030 is for sale and I bought the CZ3D.

Indeed can't tell a book by its cover...many shoulder, back and hip problems shorten or lessen ones activities...years ago when all units were really heavy I hipmounted everything...takes a while to get used to it with the swinging wire but after a while all falls into place...and good luck in your ventures...
