My CZ 70 snapped in half today!

OK, I admit it was an ebay detector. I bought it to hunt beaches during my California vacation. I had put it together, tested it, but never used it before the trip. The first time I used it I felt some flex, thought the collars were loose. I found out the pistol grip was cracked at the base. I didn't jump to any conclusions, but figured it could have been damaged in shipping. I splinted the handle and got by to finish that evening. Later I tried to fix it with epoxy and wire ties. It made it through one more short session. Today, I finally got to a beach early and after about fifteen minutes it snapped right in half. Once it broke, I could tell it had been glued before. I jammed the broken handle in my belt and kept hunting. Finally, got a good signal about 15 or 20 feet beyond the surf line and with two deep scoops I pulled a 14 kt, size 11 man's wedding band with 6 diamonds. It is a big, heavy thing and I was happy to grab it and run. Guess I will be calling Fisher and trying to get a new grip when I get home from vacation.

well at least you got a positive out of the deal, maybe that ring will get you a whole new assembly for the machine!

Yeah, mine broke before. I just ordered another one from FISHER, their cheap. I also bought a extra one, just in case.
Sounds like you paid that bad boy off already!:clapping::fisher:

Thanks, Aaron,
I was super pleased with the CZ 70. I figured Fisher would treat me right on the repair. I like your idea of a spare one. I was a little bummed mine broke right when I hit the beach. I also forgot my headphones that day. I guess I am lucky I found anything that day. Going back tomorrow with a make shift belt mount for the CZ. I hope that with headphones and a little luck I can snag some more gold before heading back to Indiana.

I'd say you paid for your CZ70 with that find

I take it that the seller didn't include the factory CZ70 belt mount clip?

Great find!
Brian

Hey Brian.
He did include that, but I didn't bring it to California with me. I have never used a hip mount and I was perfectly happy to swing it like I do on land. Once it snapped off of the handle though. , I decided a hip mount would be the ticket. I am going back out today with a hip mount fashioned from plastic wire ties around the mounting studs. I hope I don't drop the entire thing in the ocean.

Wow, Those are nice rings. Yea machine should have paid for itself. Buying an ebay detector used is a craps shoot. Bought 2 that had problems. Luckly it didn't cost me to fix either machine. But,still why be crooked????
Congrats on the rings!!!:clapping:

Thanks Aaron,
I am calling it beginner's luck. I just about flipped out when this thing showed up in the scoop. It looked way to thick to be a ring, but a quick wipe off and I was a pretty happy fella.
I am super glad I invested in the CZ 70 for the trip. It ended up being converted to a hip mount but worked like a jewel. I am anxous to find out the weight of this big ole ring. It is going
to be heavy. I will update when I get it in to the scale back in Indiana.
