My CZ-3D nickel test results

99 nickels read as nickel ID with high tone
1 nickel read round tab with mid tone it was dated 1943
a dime gave a high tone at approx 11" it was a faint whisper, volume was at 4 without headphones
I could force many of the nickels to give a mid tone if they were passed under the coil at an angle or near the outer edge of the coil.
If you have a copy of Fisher Intelligence read the article. Creating the CZ-3D for the Real World. He talks about nickels and their tone ID.
If all or most of your nickels read High Tone, then you are good to go. Because as Tom says that we are looking for old nickels not modern clad.

Indiana Heath it does sound like you need to have your CZ-3D calibrated, nearly every nickel should read high tone. I hope you get it calibrated soon.
