My customers make me happy

I was just wondering how many other dealers out there get thrilled when talking to their customers? I know that Andy and Bart do, but was curious about others.

The best part of my day has gone from enjoying my hunts, to enjoying listening to stories from my customers. I can't wait for the phone to ring. We usually talk about places to hunt, how to research a spot, getting the proper settings for conditions, etc..

One called me yesterday and told me that he recovered 305 coins in 6.5 hours at a local park, no silver, and just 1 wheat. He needs an older Park. Of all those coins he had nearly 200 zincs, we spoke about notches.. LOL

He has a seated hunt tomorrow, and I can't wait to hear his results. Nearly 40 years of hunting, and he is happy to say that the XP DEUS is the best detector he's ever used. I was hesitant to become a dealer. I'm glad I did. You guys are fun to hunt with, and even more fun to chat with.

Of course its good to talk with dealers about detectors/detecting and equipment, but i tend to buy all my equipment online rather than through a brick's and morter outlet, the main reason i guess is the advantagous price. Our 4 biggest dealers over here in the UK are a minimum of 80-100 miles away,so when you also take fuel into account the internet does seem to be the way that most things are bought these days.

The trouble is that you can check out the spec of a new machine, watch 1st hand YouTube videos that real folks make and then decide what make/model to purchase, then place the order online without moving out of your armchair, its a topic that i am afraid is based around prices and if a customer can save heard earnt money then i am afraid they will eventually migrate away from the traditional outline in favour of online buying.

This is of course just my personal opinion based on observations and my purchasing methods of detecting related items.

Good Post! You are a good dealer on account of your interest and love for your customers.:please:..that guy that racked up 300+ in that short of time has attained Master Fast Cladder status!..:surprised::clapping:.

Not many people ever had a 300+day on any targets in that short of time...he must have developed a super fast recovery method, (screwdriver stoop and stab?) a comfortable and spry frame, and using such a light fast rig like the Deus, I knew it should be a cladders dream weapon, just never seen a post on its application for this method bragged about here...

Maybe when you talk to him this afternoon, have him do us a post about it?...I'd be interested in hearing the details of how he used his Deus as a 'quick broom' on clad, coil size, settings, etc...thats a skillset he should be proud of, and I've often wondered if it could be done with a Deus?...Theres some Fast Cladder Addicts out here in Detectorville that want to know..

We are all about speed and lightweight, accurate signal audio ID and depth, multitones, etc...This customer of yours really knows what he is doing, and perhaps has developed a system/settings that none of us are familiar with? I'd like to see a post from a Deus user who employs his rig in this fashion and has mastered it...massive clad, short time...

I wish there was a dealer in my town of most major brands. However, there is not. I wonder if you dealers can say how profitable having a dealership is with detectors? I know it is not about getting rich but does it at least make a little profit to make it worthy???? I can retire with my government pension in 9 years and this may be a great way to spend my days and having just a tad more cash in-flow as well. plus I like just jaw jacking over coffee and I would love to have a place to encourage others to come by and tell lies!!!! I mean slightly exaggerated truths!:)

Mud,

My customer "Ron" just got his DEUS from me a bit over a week ago. He has been detecting since the 70's and just jumped over here from a White's MXT. A good machine, but now he is Deus proud. I haven't hunted with him yet in the field. We have plans on that in a couple of weeks. I did help him learn the machine after some extensive time on the phone. I also sent him the book that Andy Sabisch wrote. Ron is a quick study, I think he would do well with almost any machine. So far, he is loving his new toy.

Thanks for the kind words, I spend as much time as I can helping people learn to use their detector, even if they didn't get one from me.

Having new friends to detect with is the biggest advantage of being a dealer. Like the post from above, the internet makes it so easy for people to find the absolute lowest prices that it is hard to compete with that. Then if a sale isn't shipped out of the state, there are taxes on top of the sale. If paid with PayPal, there are more expences related with that service. I wouldn't count on selling detectors as a viable income. I still work 70 hours per week at my real job and do this the rest of the time. The good thing about my arrangement is that I can help my customers over the phone while I work. If I know that I'm expecting a call while I'm at work, I will bring the remote along with me to work. It fits nicely into my shirt pocket.

I can't speak for other machines much, but selling a Deus is all about being good with it and believing in the product. Taking somebody hunting that had used other machines is about all that it takes. When the volume of coins far outnumbers the pile of trash they tend to want one. If I wasn't competent with the Deus, I doubt that I could sell them. I love this detector, I hunt with it every chance that I can. I think that shows when I'm out.

Good luck with your retirement, I don't know what you do for the Government, but if you are in the Military (I'm ex Navy) I want to say, "Thank you for your Service"

I don't know why, but the title of this posts just tickles me. I'm not sure if it's because it brings to mind the overt pandering of local car dealership ads during the morning news, the 'new convert' enthusiasm of my slightly off-center 'Jehovah's Witness' neighbors, or the fact that I've never heard an honest-to-goodness Texan use the words 'make me happy' in a sentence before. One who wasn't born in Austin anyway. But it's pretty great stuff.

I'm always appreciative when someone puts an unexpected grin on my face.

Thanks Jim for 'making me happy'. :wiggle:
