My Current Coins PTRN

People have been asking me what Pattern I use so I downloaded my Etrac Backup and my current Pattern. This Pattern cuts out most Pull Tabs while getting a good selection of Rings as well as most US Coins. You will miss very early Indians but not all. Most gold Pieces will be found but the ones missed are the small denominations. My Hunting conditions rule out digging Pull Tabs and I play the odds with Rings. I have revised this Pattern several times and I am still not sure about how low the Ferrous should be, but if you get too much Ferrous trash just cut out from 27 Ferrous to 22 while leaving the Conductive alone.

I did notice that this Backup using Minelab Exchange is not always accurate. For some reason my setting seem to get changed at times during the transfer. I use High Trash ON, Deep ON, and Recovery Fast ON with Stock settings elsewhere except Auto Sensitivity +3

I have been hunting but due to Christmas, I have not posted finds the last couple days. I did find 6 Wheats and 1 Silver Quarter on Christmas Eve.

Your program misses a couple of gold pieces. The flying eagle is also disc out. If that was your plan ok. I use the emulator program to test my pattern against US coins to make sure I get most of them. I ran your program with that emulator program.

Yep your right if I remember right it missed a total of 4 Coins. I did the same thing you did. I used the Emulator myself. One question are you able to create a program on the Emulator then transfer it to the Etrac. Doing it that way I got corrupted file every time. I will have to go back and check again to see about the Flying Eagles. I hated to leave out that Indian Penny but there was no way to get it and cut out pull tabs. I have found Indian Heads in this area but they are rare. Picking up Pull Tabs is a deal breaker in this area. Just way too many vs finding a coin. So far in this area. I have never heard of anyone finding any gold at all other than a ring. The junk here is Pull Tabs and Can slaw. Nothing you can do about Can Slaw. I guess you just play the odds.

I was able to save programs but it seems to sometimes work and sometimes not.

I just made another program that opened up that 12-22 -- 12-24 section that will allow all US coins. Now to see just how many of those Pull Tabs fall right there.

Hi ddf.

Problems saving......?

Are you saving the MODE involved......or the PATTERN....?

Dad.....aren't you talking about the MODE being different?

Try saving the original as a MODE, and see if that retains your set-up.

Matt.

I was actually talking about using the Etrac Emulator to try and create Patterns for Discrimination. Patterns are the Screens that have open spots to allow the targets to sound off. Modes on the Etrac are saving settings such as Fast On Deep on and so forth. I was trying to develop a pattern for Discrimination on the Emulator then transfer it to my Etrac. Seems that for whatever reason this won't work. You can develop Patterns on your Etrac and transfer them to the Emulator but not visa versa. Emulator (if I remember correctly) will let you edit Patterns but you can not then load the edited Pattern back to your Etrac. I finally got my Patterns set just right and no longer even think about them.

I have created 2 new programs based on a video I seen of a guy showing what you miss with too much discrimination. Check out there two videos

These are my two new patterns based on the above video. First one is low trash and second is for high trash

The concept is a good one if you hunt shallow coins. The issues I would have is that coins at 7"+ are not going to have a solid CO they will bounce around just like deep rusted iron.

I tried this pattern in our city park and dug 4 deep big rusted nails and 1 1943 quarter.

I dug a merc the other day at about 6 and it rang up like it was one the surface. It was masked by iron and I had been over that area over 6 times with other coils. The only change was the discr setting. Will post my results when I take this out to check it out. Will give a full report. Hopefully it will generate more silver. I am going to return to all sites in my town I already have pounded to see what happens. Thanks to all for the support

I watched the Video with great interest and eventually determined that my settings would not have caused me to miss this coin even though the Nails were there. I would have likely noticed something did not match and would have turned 90 degrees and hit the signal again. If I saw the 12 ferrous at any time or any where close I would have dug it. I tried hunting with the iron turned down to 31 and it just did not work at all in my soil. Too many false hits. I noticed that the Video did not show this and it should have. This is a very interesting Topic.

how high to to set the FE on your program? I did get a lot of fasling. I think maybe 22 might be a good FE setting.

I found that a FE setting of 25 worked well in my dirt. Never found a coin that hit anywhere near there and I largely ignore Ferrous readings.
