My cool ring return story

On April 7th Felipe and his wife of just a year and a half went to Clearwater beach for a couple of days relaxation. They are students from Brazil studying at the University of Florida in Gainesville. While swimming Felipe lost his wedding ring. He actually thought he lost it on a different part of the beach. It was just a plain band, 18K but had his new brides name inscribed on the inside along with their wedding date.

May 1st, I hit several beaches that day and scored the usual stuff including a silver ring and a nice 18K 2.76 gold band from CWB late in the day. It had a name and date inscribed inside.

Sometime near the middle of June while trying desperately to figure out how to get his ring back ,Felipe stumbled across a Youtube video of Dewguru and his story of finding a news anchor's wedding ring. So Felipe decided to try an ad on Craig's list lost and found.

I always look at CL lost and found every day. One day I saw Felipe's ad. I emailed him to say I may have his ring but he needed to tell me the name that was inscribed. When I emailed him to say we had a match he was over joyed.

It wasn't until today that a nice young good looking couple drove down from Gainesville to meet with me at my work. Felipe and his beautiful wife came to claim his ring. They were both so very happy and Silvanna showed me her matching 18K ring with wedding date and Felipe's name inscribed in hers. To top it off they were returning to Brazil in 2 weeks because Felipe had finished his studies.

I can honestly say that it's moments like these that actually give me a better feeling than actually finding gold in my scoop. It was really cool reuniting Felipe and his lady with his ring. And yes, I did accept a small gratuity from them for my troubles.

Congratulations on a rewarding return! You did more for international relations than most diplomats do! ;-)
Cheers,

Really great story! And they will never, ever, forget you.

WTG...Cant agree more on the feeling of returning,or as i did tonight finding a JUST LOST ring....The repeated "Oh MY GOD" and" Thank-You so much" is a reward in its self...anything else is a bonus...I check CL daily TOO.

Awesome! Its the back stories of what we find that make it all worthwhile...Good on ya! :clapping:
