My compliments to Minelabs service department.

I just got off the phone to the service dept of Minelab here in Oz. I spoke with both Kevin and Nanard in regards to having my XS refitted with a new housing, as the old one is now past it's used by date.
In particular, while I had them on the phone, I asked them about the hang ups that I have been having with my pinpointing. Nanard has advised me, that the standard coil has 3 hot spots on it; in the middle, and when coins are very shallow, they also sound off when coins are off to the side of the coil as well, which explains why I have been getting the centred signals when they are off to the side. He also explained that if I haven't got the coil far enough away from a target that is close to the surface when I hit the pinpoint button, then it will throw the pinpoint off. This is the most likely cause of where I've been coming unstuck.
Just wanted to acknowledge their helpfulness in helping a sometimes frustrated X-Terra user to get the best out of his detector. Thanks Nanard and Kevin, from a grateful user.
Mick Evans.
P.S. Before talking to them, I ordered a 6 inch coil, so I'm looking forward to getting out with it in the next week or so.

Finally sorted huh! Maybe raising the coil for screamer targets on or near the surface will be the helper to pinpoint. If Nanard is reading this, probably not as I dont think they at M/lab Aus bother with anything other than the Aussie Pi forums and if they do they dont ever "acknolwledge" it, then I am sure "Nenad",actual name, will be happy:lol:. Howling at the wind though I think Mick, unfortunately. Have a good one mate.
