My Compadre air tests

I know air test don't mean much but I was bored and curious about my Tesoro Compadre. I tested it with the dial turned to minimum.

Quarter 7"
Dime 7"
Penny 8"
Nickel 8.5"

Using clad coins with the 5.75" coil, good solid repeating beeps.

Notice that nickel depth, ole buddy? Picks up my wedding band at over 8". Makes you think.
I never gave it a thought to air test my wedding ring, I did waive it passed the coil and it hit a good distance away. I will have to measure the distance tomorrow, my ring is a white gold size 10. Steve.

P.S. Again I did not measure the distance but the little Compadre hit on everything from my wife's jewelry box that I waived under the coil, yes sir even the small ear ring backs and the small linked chains :tesoro::thumbup:.

The Tesoro Compadre hits super hard on gold and nickels. It's a one knob wonder.:)

It's not just for beginners. It's an amazing machine that's really fun to swing.

I've read where people have used them exclusively for years and are setting the woods on fire finding stuff with them.

Hey Skiwhiz, Those airtests are pretty impressive for a 160.00 detector. Ya better keep this one.... it sounds like a good one. I'm gonna have to get one someday, maybe my gold totals would improve.

Nice findings...I'm going to have to try one at some point.

Next thing ya know someone will be wiring in a 10x12 SEF to one....lol

Well, Steve has posted the wiring and hardware before!

After the "new car smell" wears off it I might do the coil connector mod and try either a 8" brown donut coil or the 8x9 spoked coil on it.

This was the first thing I have ever bought off craigslist (I was skeptical at first), a fella in Georgia had it posted for sale, he said he bought it for his daughter to try and she didn't like detecting at all and neither did the guy who bought it for her. I got it with original box, warranty card, bumper sticker, etc. not a scratch on it anywhere for $120.00 delivered to me by usps priority mail.

Hi,

I own a Compadre with the 8" coil.

This coil gets about the same air tests result as mentioned in the initial post.

I think it gives a better idea of depth of detected targets.

With the 8" coil, the Compadre is still very sensitive and also very productive, as you van see on the pics below.

There hot little detectors order one the other day from RTG and there on backorder. I should not have sold the first one.

Whats up guys, I figured one of ya would of showed up to help me milk the cows this morning you knew I wanted to hurry and get a air test on my wedding ring. Oh well I started without you's got all the chores done and my ring air tested. I get a decent beep at 7 inches real solid at 6 - 6.5 inches.

gets close to those depths in the ground :detecting:
hot little detector on jewerly

Hi Steve

In 'my' ground the Compadre goes much deeper than it airtests at. 'Airtests' show that your detector is working, not how deep it will go.
