My Buddy Shows me up !

My buddy Ron came down from New Jersey to Jacksonville last weekend for a weekend and to enjoy some sun. He brought his Tracker 4 that he purchased 2years ago on Ebay and never set it up. He never detected and thought he would give it a try. I threw some batteries in the machine and off we went to the local Park for a hunt. Being a seasoned hunter of about "5 mos" I gave him a few tips to help him along the way and handed him the Lesche. There were some picnic tables near the lake and the tot park so I thought that it might be a good place to start. In front of the tables was a parking lot so I with my MXT and Ron with his Tracker 4 began to sweep the lot. Within the first 2 minutes he approaches me with his hands behind his back and shouts I am hooked! I saw him dig up a beer cap and I am thinking he is easy to please. After a bit of fan fare I had to pick the right hand and he opened the hand to show me a 14k 6.8 gram men's gold wedding band. still with the dirt in the center!!! Three digs and he scores a big fat beautiful gold band. That is how we started the day. Needless to say I did not live that one down the entire day. He proceeded to out dig me about 2 to 1 on the coins. He was a digging machine. We hunted all that day and the next; found tons of clad and few silver items and got a nice touch up on the tan lines. Weather was beautiful and sunny - memories priceless. I told him when he gets home to tell his wife that he got remarried in fl after showing the ring to her. He plans on keeping the ring as a reminder of a great hunt. Sorry about the blurred picture. I need to get a better closeup camera lens. Anyway thanks for viewing and it just reinforces the wonder and graciousness of God. I think he has a great sense of humor !

Great fun to share with a friend..

That's what friends are for. You always want them to find something spectacular and then soon it will be your turn. HH, Nancy

Absolutely Nancy !!

I was very happy for him to hit a ring and to be able to share the experience. We have been friends for a long time and now we are bonding on a different level - common hobby. Every time we hit a precious or unusual item it fuels us for another round of hunts and keeps the expectation high. :wiggle:

Precious finds and priceless friendships. It doesn't get any better than that. HH, Nancy

No matter how hard you try you can't beat beginners luck.

Hey Easy I've tried everything I can think of to get my bro's to get into hunting w/me but they all refuse to be enlightened. I did finally loan a beep-and-dig I used to have to a friend and she found a beautiful antique copper locket right away. I took my detector back & found an MXT for her. She's hooked.
