I have used a lot of detectors and even used an XT 50 for a week or two,but I told my brother he had me stumped. They are both great detectors for coins but I don't have enough experience to make a good choice. His primary use for a metal detector would be park hunting with medium to heavy trash.Again if it was up to me I would flip a coin.

.:ninja: I know I'm going to get yelled at but the Whites m6 is a better all around detector in my opinion,i own an x-Terra 50 and i have never been too happy with it. It has been back to Minelab twice,it's Just the overall performance is not impressive to me. The m6 is a little heavier but more stable and the signals don't bounce as much. Just my two cent's worth, maybe I'm just being negative today with the ground frozen here in Michigan the winter blues i guess. HH. Tim

Depends on what, and where you hunt.

How much weight you can swing..and the features you like and dislike.
There would be no wrong answer here. Just opinions.

My opinion would be the M6..thats based on my personal knowledge of both detectors.

Minelab might have the edge on depth, M6 will have the edge on iron discrimination. Now note this please..not much difference in depth.

I'm going to throw my 2 cents in here. I had an MXT and got an X-terra 70. It didn't take long and I sold the MXT,even though I had been using it for 2 years prior. I hadn't been using the X-terra 6 months and I was starting to be able to tell what I was going to dig before I dug it and I can tell when its a nail, which I was never able to do that with the MXT (dug way too many nails). I still have the X-terra 70 and am very happy with it, because of its accuracy and light weight.
