My Boy's Fisher 1212X Arived Today

I put a fresh 9 volt in it and he has been a happy camper since it arrived. We where just getting ready to go to a local park when a thunder storm hit. I think most of it is going to miss us though so after it blows over I will still take him! My detector has not arived yet. He loves it though. He found a penny in the first 30 seconds of use. He has been finding all kinds of clad.So I think he is going to like the hobby! I like how light weight it is. It is very light and sure seems to have adequate depth and sensitivity to coins so far. I cannot wait to get it out to an area with more traffic like the park by our house!!! The only thing I do not like about it is the size of the head phone jack! I have some really nice studio quality head phones but they do not use 1/4 inch phono jack. The only head phones I have are a pair of 1979 Koss Studio Reference Headphones witht he 1/4 inch phono jack and I do not want to use them. Witht he discrimanation turned off it picks up all kinds of iron and steel like the nails in the wood floors in my house and in the wall etc.....So if I turn it 4 then it blocks out all the iron and steel stuff. I tried it with a 14K gold wedding band. It will definately pick it up but it produces a faint signal at 4 if I turn the discrimanation down to 3 it greatly improves the responce and of course no discrimanation at all is the most sensitive.

No we where waiting on it to arive we only have one 1212X. Today we found some bailing wire, an oil pump primeing rod for a small block chevy 350, and a can of preesurized cheese burried 8 inch's down crunched up. The whole family went to the park tonight. We ran into some other detectorist!
