Hi everyone,
please accept my sincere thanks to those people who replied to my previous posting about my problems with my AT Pro & the fact that I was going to have to pay for the return postage.
I have just received a phonecall from Garrett & THEY ARE now going to pay the return postage for me.
When I sent the AT Pro into them on the 5th August, I made mention of the fact that I would be going on holidays during the first week in Sept. Garrett decided that the only way to get the machine back to me quickly, was for me to pay the return express postage - hence the email requesting $80 for postage.
Once again, my sincere thanks to Garrett for helping me out in this matter & I also ask other forum members to please keep up the support for Garrett who, like a lot of other companies, need our help in these difficult times.
Someone once said, "It is not the problems that count but how we react to the problems that really counts."
Thankyou Garrett for coming to the Party.
Sincerely,
Gary Frame.

John:

I certainly don't mean to take any credit for Garrett's response, but as soon as I read your post, I became concerned. Why? Because I just received my new AT Pro last week and my diggin' partner bought one based on my advice! We plan to take them to the water very soon. Obviously, I had a stake in all this soooo . . . I emailed Bradley Keel at Garrett with my concerns and provided a link to your post, suggesting they may want to get involved. Just before reading this update, I got a response from Brad assuring me they were taking care of you. Regardless of why or how they made things right, I'm just glad to hear they did! Makes me feel a WHOLE LOT better just in case I have any issues with mine.

Now, when you get your unit back, get out there and make us all proud!

Garrett has been really good to me as well. Had a leak. I asked for a shipping label and there were no questions asked. Shipped her in and they gave me a brand new, updated MD. That was sweet! Happy hunting.

Hi everyone,
I have just received an Email from Fedex with a tracking number for my AT Pro.
I did have sincere concerns that I would not be taking it with me on my trip to the beach in a fortnights time. Due to this concern, Garrett has gone out of their way to not only pay for the postage but to also ship the detector back to me by Fedex International Priority mail. This means that it will only take about a week instead of the usual 15 days to get the detector back.
My sincere thanks again goes out to Myra & all the crew at Garrett for making this possible.

Thanks everyone.
Gary

That's great news John. Give her a good work out at the beach and let us know how you do. I plan on taking mine to VA Beach next month.

Very glad to see that they have looked after you Gary! A companies reputation is not simply built when do something well, but also being able to take corrective action that deals with the concerns of it's customers when things are not so good.
Great to see.
Mick Evans.
P.S. Enjoy your trip and don't hurry back too quick! That way I'll have some chance of finding coins while your are gone.:poke::lol:

Hi Mick,
yes Garrett has gone out of their way to post the detector back to me via AIR EXPRESS INTERNATIONAL and paid way over the $100 mark just so I can get the detector back before I go to Newcastle. I'm very impressed with the customer service & just hope that other people give them a chance to rectify the problems with the AT Pro without crusifying them for a problem that I'm sure they had no control over. I sincerely doubt that they deliberately sold AT Pros with known faults. It's just one of those problems that crop up occassionaly. The real meassure of the company will be how they correct the problems - which they are doing really well.
As for my my trip, I sincerely hope that my legs hold up. Went to the Doctor yesterday & have now been reffered to the Sydney Adventist Hospital specialist who performed some of my original ops. Let's hope I can put the hip recall off un til I find enough coins & gold to pay for the next op. The last one cost over $45000.
Gary.

"I sincerely doubt that they deliberately sold AT Pros with known faults."

Of course. That would be self-defeating in this line of work. Word spreads fast in the internet age. I took mine out for another short test drive this afternoon. Nothing spectacular, part of an old pocket watch and some type of copper bracelet - both still soaking. They were each at about 6 inches. The watch piece had a large iron nail in the hole with it.

I hope the op goes well when you get to it. There are some nice hot spots down in Newcastle. talking to Goanna Detectors last year, some of the locals armed with their detectors are finding around $65 per hunt on the beaches. Not Winter though. I tried it and their wasn't much there.
Mick Evans.

I started out with a cheaper Garrett machine then went up to other different brands to find one I liked and now I have come back to Garrett. They have the best service department of any company I have had to deal with. When you email them, they are always prompt to reply with a message or phone call. Other company's I have dealt with just seem to ignore you half the time or are very surly like they didn't want to be bothered. So I am a Garrett fan from now on. Keep up the good work Garrett. Onus
