My best find

Hey folks. Haven't posted in a while. Been a crazy month or two.
Our son was born in the beginning of April, and my wife spent the better part of last week in the hospital.
All of this has been pretty stressful to everyone in the family, especially our 8 year old daughter.
Which bring me to this story.

I came home from work a couple days ago and only had a little daylight to mow our extremely overgrown yard. Well, my 8 year old came to me in tears telling me about losing her locket at school. Her great grandmother gave her the locket for Christmas this year, and it was special to her.
My daughter did her best telling me roughly where she remembered scratching her neck while playing on the playground at school. She remembered grabbing the necklace while scratching and vaguely remembered it coming off. She looked for it but couldn't find it.
Being short on time I drove to the school and looked for a minute without my detector. I realized I needed a closer idea of where to look before it got dark.
I drove back home and my daughter drew me a "map" of where she was when she realized the necklace was gone.
So back to the school I go. I get the Vaquero out of the trunk and bee-line it to where she said she was. Did a very quick and sloppy ground balance, sensitivity at 1 and Discrim just above iron.
Within a minute I got a strong signal, reached down to brush some gravel away, and saw this.
The look on my daughter's face was priceless when I got home and showed it to her!

That's the only 'tecting I've done in quite a while, but it was my best hunt yet.

Great story Wane.

I had a Tetnatics 25 years ago. It broke and I got married and had a couple of kids.
I did not replace that metal detector until 9 months ago.

Then I went crazy.

I have purchased 10 metal detectors in the last 9 months. I sold 5 of them and gave
away one to big brothers.

That leaves me with four very nice Tesoro metal detectors.

I don't work now and have had lots of time to devote to this hobby. I am happy to say
that I have been successful enough to find enough to pay most of the money I have
spent on metal detectors and coils.

Hang in there. Take care of them young-uns and detect when you can.

Hope to hear more from you soon,

Who knows, you might have got the fever back.

It is a great story, but you would need bolt- cutters to even reach the play ground in Lamar county schools.
They keep all schools locked down during, and after school.Hunt it while you can if you want;but i assume this
will be a state wide law before long,
hope your family is doing OK now

I got a fever. And the only prescription is more 'tecting!

Never lost it - just too much "other" stuff going on right now!

Yep, I know Vernon. I used to work in Haleyville and Double Springs. Good ole Free State territory.

Very good story! You did good for your daughter! I know you will remember that look a very long time! A big congrats to you also on the birth of your son! I hope mom and son are doing well, Beale.

Outstanding story Wayne. Nothing greater then a smile on a child's face. Keep up the great 'tecting.
