My Best Find To Date!

I don't post a lot on this forum because I usually find current clad coins. Now and then a silver dime or quarter. I have also found some rings. But today I found my best find yet. I was at an area I have hunted 3 or 4 times before and never found that much. I was using my X-Terra 705 with the 9" 7.5kHz concentric coil. The first thing I did was to auto noise cancel that registered at 2, then I did a auto ground balance which read 20. Sensitivity set at 15. Now I know that Randy has said that if the ground balance numbers read 28 or higher to use the concentric coil and I should have been using the double D coil with that 20 number. The area I started at didn't have much trash, so I left the coil on. I was hunting in the all metal mode. I found a few memorial pennies, two dimes and a quarter, gun shell casings and some other junk. I was hunting about 2 feet away from the gravel road that comes into this old area, when I got a nice high tone signal that read 46 on the screen. I dug down about 3 or 4 inches and there laid my first silver dollar. The 1887 Morgan silver dollar that I found has a O mint mark. I would like to thank Randy and the rest of you, for all the great information on this forum!

Boy that is super! And thanks for posting the settings on your 705. That helps those of us who are still learning our detectors.

Congrats nice coin.

Very nice:drool:very. TomB

That is an excellent find, regardless of the coil you were using. I've done this a LONG time and in my opinion, it doesn't get much better than digging a Morgan silver dollar! JMHO HH Randy
