My best find in March

Got my first detector, a gtax 550, last May, and have thoroughly enjoyed every minute that I've been able to get out with it. I'd like to thank everyone on Find's for making it an even more enjoyable experience. I didn't think that I would ever have the need for another detector after acquiring the Garrett, but I stopped by my local pawn shop yesterday, and they had an MXT behind the counter. I asked to check it out, with absolutely no intention of making a purchase. The manager handed it to me and there was the price tag....$199.95!!! "OK, I'll take it" I said. $214.85 after tax and it's mine. So, I guess I'll spend this summer figuring out this detector and learning from your experiences. This is one find that is going to be difficult for me to beat.

If it work good you had a steal at that price. Congrats !

WOW That was a great find!!!! I hear of people all the time finding great detectors on the cheap, I'm not that lucky.

What a steal!!! Yes, good find and HH, Nancy

My only hope is that It's not a stolen detector. You have to figure that they only gave someone $100 or so pawn price. I can't see anyone being desperate enough to pawn it for that cheap and not come back within 90 days to claim it. The pawn shops in this area supposedly work very closely with the police department to recover stolen goods. The other thing is that the pawn shop is a Garrett dealer and should have known the value. Everything seems to be working fine with the detector, although I haven't gotten outdoors with it yet. Any suggestions as to things to test to assure that the detector is in good working order?
