Got permission to hunt a pasture next to an old cemetary in the country. Many firsts for me! 1908 barber half, 1897 & 1906 barber dimes, 16 24 29 36 merc dimes, 1903 v nickel,1920 buffalo nickel, 1890 & 91 & 1905 indians, 1910, 13, 15, 17, 18, 19, 20, 25, 29, 30 wheats! Awesome. Most were found with the ace 250 with 10x14 excelerator coil

That's a good yielding location congrats on the good oldie coin finds.

I found a 1922 map that shows a church and school but also found a 1959 map that shows them across the road where a house is. I talked to an older local and he says they were across the road cause he remembers going. He didnt remember when it was torn down but it was built in 1906 and used untill 1967. Maybe they were moved cause i have foun broken glass and brick but no nails. Wish i could get permission to hunt where the house is but the place is a mess plus there are people there that dont want anyone there

At least you know the history behind the place. Maybe when the owners or conditions change you will get your chance.
Doing your homework, which you have done, is half the battle. Wait and see and hope for the best. Good luck !

Small town cemeteries used to set aside one day a year for clean-up. People who had family buried would come and clean the graves/cemetery and have a picnic/cook out (kind of a social gathering).

Think the area you are hunting could have been a picnic spot for something like that?

Wonderful hunt and hunting site. Good job on locating the pot. Certainly paid off. HH jim tn

Maybe a park as John says or the place where they parked
the horse and buggy and walked to the cemetery.

Well actually i found pics of the front of the church and school and horse and buggys parked in front (south side of road where i can't get permission). I do believe people
May have parked there though. I have found the body tag for a model t and also coil points for a model t. One more thing i recently found is a verynold boy scout button. I thought it was interesting. Ill try to get a good pic of it

Way back when before TV and PC Sundays were for having picnics next to the cemetery...Guess you hit the spot were they were had....
