This is my third year of detecting (mostly cellar holes) and have found a lot of IH's a few large cents, some rosies and mercs and one walking liberty half. Also lucked out once and found a 1721 spanish cob. But most sites only gave up one coin and two coins was a really good site.
I detected an area that was bulldozed (a couple acres) to make room for a new ballfield. There were old houses in the area at one time. Little did I know that it would cough up a lot of coins and many were a first for me. I know a lot of you have found these coins many times but for me it was the best site I have been to and I had to share. Although some of them are not in good shape and can't see the date, I can at least tell what kind of coin it is.
The coin in the middle of the middle row is a shield nickel. (no rays) On both sides of it is a flying eagle cent. I can't tell what kind of large cent is on the left but the one on the right is a coronet type. The silver is, well most of you know.
I did the happy dance quite a few times because the shield nickel, flying eagle cents, coronet cent, barber dimes and seated liberty dime are all a first for me. OK, I have found a few IH's but they are still fun to find.
Unfortunately the area is so large that I couldn't take the time to slow down with my elite and cover every inch. I'm sure there are more coins there. Maybe another first.
Also found my first token. "Good for $1 dollar off a $10 dollar purchase" at Rome Bros. in Gardner MA.
I just realized that if you click on the pic it will enlarge it.
Thanks for looking.
