I have 2 Propointers, PP#2 was bought when PP#1 was sent in for repairs last fall (I wanted a backup). In a short time Garrett repaired my old one and sent it back to me. I took it out of the package and tested its operation in the house.
It worked well but since the season was almost over, I continued to use PP#2. In the spring I decided to use the repaired PP#1 but out in the field it was a different story. As I swept the target hole, the Propointer would start going crazy and go into a run-away beeping.
I could push on the side of it and make it fail, push again and it would self heal. So I sent it back to Garrett with the same explaination.
I just got a call today informing me of the repair. I asked what was the problem and the rep. stated it was the coil and that it would be $49. To say the least I wasn't happy. Thats exactly what Garrett repaired the first time I sent it in.
I can only hope Garrett will give me a break on the price (the rep was going to see what she could do), but I can't really blame them as I should have done my due dilligence and tested it thoroughly before shelving it.
Now I'm in over $110 for repairs and shipping.
This is not a complaint about Garrett, just a warning to others to thoroughly check your PP before considering it repaired.
