My AT Went Down!! SOS!!

snide

Member
Pulled up to a new spot this morning gleeming with anticipation...Pulled the AT out turned it on and went to manual ground balance, the minute I pushed in the GB button the numbers on the VDI shot all the way down to 00...Tried it again, same thing, tried turning it off and back on and tried auto GB, wouldn't read signals...would'nt read a coin I threw on the ground, wouldn't do anything...

New batteries, tried different (new) coil, same thing....At a loss?? Anyone hear of anything like this before? Something is BAD WRONG here, not sure what?? I LOVE my AT PRO and hate to be without it, but looks like I'm gonna have to send it in...It is the first generation (if you will) AT Pro and I've owned it for about 12 months...Any Ideas??

Thanks in advance!!

Well, I read some old post and it appears some other AT fans have had very similar problems.....I never had one issue with this machine before now, I know the big thing in the begining was falsing issues but I never had that problem....I thought all was well and BAM!, this happens....Can't wait to get it back, and havn't even sent it yet...lol

Did you try a hard reset? Hold down the power button for 30sec till it beeps.

I wonder why the PRO keeps popping out with problems.

Is it possible for them to just recall the ATP PRO and replace the part that has commonly plaqued this detector?

Yeah, mine worked perfectly for a year.:detecting: Then it started just acting totally crazy and wouldn't work right. I sent the control box and stock coil in to Garrett. Got it back in one week and it now works better than ever!:super: Garrett will fix ya up! Good luck! Happy Hunting!:)

Give Garrett a call 1 800 527 4011and make arrangements to send it in. They will look after you.

Considering that the AT Series/ACE Series are the biggest selling detectors currently, the number of malfunction issues over-all is really insignificant.

Good luck! :)

+1!

I understand they are machines....machines can fail no doubt. Not complaining just bummed that I don't have another to fill the down time..lol

Anyways sending 'er in tommorow and counting the days till it's return.....I really LIKE my AT PRO!!

Also make sure the ground your GBing over is clean of metal and minerals...scan it first in PP mode...

HH,

GGG: You mean you can find a 'clean' spot to gb? Most of my spots are so trashed that I just have to do the best I can. :ranting:

p.s., I just finally found the exact location of the third train depot (1893) location here - it was right in the middle of a main drag, with nearly solid pavement for about a block around it. Do you think you could come down for a visit and use your Gopher super powers to help me burrow under the pavement??
