My AT Up-Grade Report!

Dream Catcher

New member
Spent a week on vacation with the the up-graded AT pro. First of all, Garrett worked with me to get it back BEFORE we left. I paid a few extra dollars for quicker delivery. Garrett put a rush on the repairs so I'd have it on time. Secondly, the AT worked great... I found several clad coins and the VDI & audio were right on the mark. It was muddy where I was hunting so I gave the AT a shower after the last day.
No leaks...

I also, "grew a pair" and ran it wide open... Pro mode, zero discrim and Iron audio. I used this week as a practice hunt (dug everything) and tried to predict what was in the ground before I dug it up. The AT is very accurate and I got better as the week progressed.

I didn't recover a lot of great stuff but I attribute that to the fact I was in a forest area where I don't think there had been a lot of people. None the less, $1.37 in clad isn't bad for a couple hours a day. It was fun and relaxing AND I WASN'T AT WORK:drinking:

I'd like to hear from the experts as what you dig in the 45-70 VDI range. I didn't find any nickles. I know that "no man's land" is in the nickel/gold/foil range. Iron audio helps eliminate some of the trash but beyond that what numbers are are you digging in the mid-tone audio range? How do you not miss rings, nickles, silver etc.? Thanks in advance.

The bast part of that report was "AND I WASN'T AT WORK!!" Sounds like you're going the right direction, but from my experience, Iron Audio is left off unless I get something that sounds a little frumpy, then I switch it on to see if there is a low tone on both sides.
I dig everything that is a good solid repeatable hit and some of the scratchy ones too. Sure you get a lot of junk, but every once in awhile you're rewarded with something special. I usually run about a 3 to 1 junk to good target ratio, but those little surprises are worth it!!

Nickels have always been nearly as hard to find as half dollars since I have been into detecting. But I probably have found more nickels with my ACE 350 than all my other detectors. ( 60) I don't know why, it's just a nickel magnet. Now if I can do as well with my ATPro I will be a happy man.
