Not sure if a Detector works better in wet winter ground than in dry summer dirt but my new AT Gold is really surprising me as to how deep my coins are being found at... I know it's no big deal but in the last 9 days since I received my AT Gold I just broke 100 coins, and 2 rings, plus many bullets, belt buckles, knives, costume jewelry, etc... Today alone I took 42 coins and yes I feel my back tonight from all the bending but what a kick in the butt this fun machine is...
I bought the AT Gold to use on our 2 gold claims 100 miles south of here where we have dredged since the 1980's and because of the small coarse gold nuggets we take their most every trip... I planted a nugget and coin garden a week ago in the back yard and set pennies, dimes, quarters, and nuggets from 1/8" to 5/32" in size, and this machine has really impressed me with how accurate and deep it responds to the tiny nuggets at 3" to 5" and the larger nuggets at 6" to 7", as well as how deep the coins sound off in the packed ground I tamped down last week...
I guess I just wanted to share that I noticed right off that I was digging more and more older coins down to 8" to 10" measured holes when pulling out quarters, dimes, and pennies, at both our local parks... I have also watched different guys work routinely both those parks with their detectors for years now... I really figured they'd be empty of any coins but today my AT Gold just kept sounding off coin after coin in heavy iron, tin foil, pull tab, ground... There were 2 times when the low tone junk metal sound never stopped and ran continuously due to all the nails, washers, screws, tin foil, etc, and yet a couple coins sounded off right in the middle of those solid junk patches...
