Original Post by FooserPaul: What are you goals for the year ??
Hello ALL!
I've been keeping a MD Journal for 2009 and beyond... and one of the firsts questions I pondered as I started my 2nd year swinging a coil...
What are my goals for 2009 ?
To answer that... I reviewed 2008.... I bought a Bounty Hunter LandStar on March 15th and started without a PinPointer and my garden trowel... I jumped right in without my knowledge, research, or.... Well lets just say it... I was nooobsauce... I was the uncoinscience incompetent... I did not have a clue that I did not have a clue... and I dug lots of deep iron But a few guys here in the BH forum helped me out... and I got a little clue and was at least finding target regularly... pinpointing better... and recovering a few relics and older coins (Indian Heads)... but as I gained a little knowledge... I knew I wanted a better detector... or should I say... one with more felxibility that gave me more information with options.... I settled on the XT/70 and it arrived on Jun 17th... I purchased a Lesche, 570 PinPointer, DetectPro BlackWidow Headphones... and I hunted my tail off through the end of the year... Mostly public parks and schools... I did get in to a few private yards... Here was my take for the year...

My goals are simple. Improve my finds each and every year, and let the machine pay for itself each year at least once.

well
My goals since I got my xterra 50 in oct.
a list of between 10 and 20 sites, cant remember, But of those I only have three left to test out. some are probably Worth going back to others had nothing or were not accessible.
I wanted to find a musket ball, a young head Victorian silver coin, and that was it really I didn't have really big goals done that, although I didn't get to keep the ball it was for work but fun anyway.
since then of found 300+ coins about 25 were 50% silver cant find the exact figures, and 5 were sterling. 1886 UK 3d, 1908 UK 3d, 1912 aust shilling, 1913 aust florin and 1916 UK 6d.
2 tokens , 1 brass ring 2 silver rings my fabulous 1894 diamond and sapphire ring. among other stuff. 81 dollars in 1 and 2 dollar coins.
Goals for 2009
1. Research. Local Christchurch parks, if they are not those really pristine ones and/or have some big trees in them Im going to detect as many as I can.
2. get a different coil for gold and go and find a wee nugget.
3. find an earlier silver or any coin for that matter than 1886. (problem is here that sites before 1900 are considered historic and it is illegal to detect on them.) so hopefully someone lost one on a beach or in a park. )
4. 3 beaches I want to look at. Mostly for modern coinage!!
5. work out why my detector is so jittery..... only sometimes and why it changes everytime I use it!!!!
6. Keep my job, so i can live where i am so i can continue to fully detect the old campground over the road.
7. use my detector for work in a historical site again to find really cool stuff even if Im not allowed to keep it!!!
8.Do my dishes when I get home rather than getting home at 4.30 from work and grabbing the detector to go over the road........
