My Ace 250 SHOCKED me!!!

Went down the beach today and I have been trying to get the sensitivity and discrimination set properly to be able to find items in the wet sand. Well I think I might have it. I discriminated out the bottom 3 settings begining with iron. Decreased the sensitivity by 3 and proceeded to search only the wet sand. First I got a dime at 6". That really suprised me. 6" in the WET sand??? Then I am finding pennies everywhere mainly at 3" but then I got a nice strong signal and started digging, and digging, and digging. Nothing but the detector kept saying it was deffinetly there. So I kept digging. Keep in mind in the dry I am used to digging 8-12" but this was going 8" in the wet sand and low and behold a penny. With an Ace 250!!! 8" ??? I didn't think 8" in the wet was possible with the Ace. Not in salt water sand. I am getting the excelerator coil this week. I cant wait to see what it can do!!!

Chris in Daytona Beach during Bike Week

My neighbor and I have been going out as often as we could but lately its not been good weather, rining cold and windy as hell. We just started detecting for the first time 2 months ago. Last week I founfd my first ring (in the dry) sterling and channel set CZ's and today he found his first ring sterling and 4 carat pink CZ. Even though they are only sterling it gets your heart going and this week is bike week and the rest of the month is spring break!!!!! The best time of the year to go hunting as I understand it. We are going back out in two hours when everyone gets off the beach to go to dinner. We definetly have the FEVER!!!! hahahahaha

I wish I was in Daytona for Bike week. I been there one time with my Parents when I was little. My dad rode a bike and they rode out to bike week and went to the Daytona 200. I think that is what it was called. Where they raced the sports bikes on the track. I was little, but I can still remember it. Those white sand beaches were awesome. Hope you find something good.

Surprising little feller ain't it That's why it's so wildly popular as it performs like tectors costing hundreds of dollars more. I have pulled up coins in damp barkchips at 10 inches with the 250. Why would one need anything else. Throw a bigger coil on and it will surprise you even more. Good luck.

Way to go!! I usually disc out the bottom two notches. You're gonna have a great time in Daytona. Keep it up!!

Good luck to ya in Daytona....
I envy you...im still throwing coins in
snowpiles here!!!!!!

Think Spring ( 19 days)

Sounds like you are getting the hang of it pretty good. I agree with Geo Unit about only notching out the lower 2 when in all metal mode (which is more or less Jewelry mode). I read a lot of posts where gold is found in the foil range. I have the 10 x 14 DD coil and I havent taken it off since I bought it. I found a silver quarter at 10 inches and it will go more than 12 inches on larger targets. (I usually run sens. at about 7 or 8, if it lets me, in open fields). I think you are gonna love it. I have never tried it in salty conditions so I can't help you there.

Good Luck

What size coil were you useing; the 6x9 or the 10in. That might explain alot.
Also wet, gives better conductivity.

I compared mine with a $1000 dlls machines and was going deeper using the 9 x 12 coil. I also want the excellerator coil but I haven't had enough money to get one.

Sorry. I accidently said 10inch coil. I wanted to say 12inch.
Well, if you were useing the 6x9 I'd say thats good. I went out today for a couple
hours just to get out of the house. Hate being cooped up. Found a handful of change the
usual garbage. At least I got rid of the junk so I don't have to re detect it again.:)-)

Have you used that 9x12 coil yet? Its a bit on the heavy side
but covers alot of ground. I wonder how good it would be on your beach?

I only have the 6.5 x 9 at the moment but I am getting ready to buy the 10x14" DD Excelerator. Spring break starts next week so I need to be ready for it.

You can put it in relic mode or put it in all metal.
The Ace will do a good job in any mode. I've looked at alto of other
inexpensive detectors companies have come out with as an answer to
Garrett's success, but they really fall far short of anything I'd want to spend
my money on.

Whites Coin Master is one such machine; it sells for $179 but it's doesn't
come anywhere close to the Ace, in my opinion. The same seems to hold true
for the F2, another cheapo, but some people really like the machines. If it finds
coins and other things then that's what matters.

I plan to buy at least two more Ace 250's just to have around for people/friends who waht to get
a taste of what MDing is abut.
