My 2013 Finds

floodplaindetector

Well-known member
Just wanted to share my 2013 finds. I have been in this great hobby for about 10 years and have been a Minelab Etrac user since 2009.
I ended the year with 363 silver coins with the oldest silver being 1853.
This year I also found well over 100 Indian head pennies, well over 100 buffalo nickels, dozens of V nickels, silver rings, pins, merchant tokens and hundreds of wheat pennies.
I only hit 2 private yards this year so 99% of my finds came from public city parks and fairgrounds.
I briefly switched to the CTX 3030 in 2012 but decided to stick with my Etrac as I believe it is an excellent machine and is right for me.
A couple coins that are still alluding me that I would like to find are a silver dollar and an American large cent. Maybe next year!

I sure hope you don't live in my area.....there'd be nothing left for the rest of us! Good job!!!!!!!!!

That Sir, is absolutely impressive !!!!! Your comments about sticking and staying with the E-Trac over the CTX 3030 is apparently justified with the pile of loot you are able to recover. Incredible !!!! Thanks for sharing.

incredible yr end totals, and THAT is why when I found 94 silver this yr, I said I ONLY found 94...........guys like you are blowing me OUT of the water!

Are you kidding me? Geez, you make my finds seem so..... little (86), LOL. CONGRATS, on s dream like kind of year, WOW.

Man, that is so freaking Impressive...I like-e, a lot :)

That is jaw dropping to most of us! I also am glad you don't live any where near me.......I'd sell my detectors:laugh:!! Awesome PILE of finds....WOW!!!

wow, id be happy to find that in my lifetime let alone one season. :yikes:

Very, very nice year! Congratulations and thanks for the update and picture!

That's off the charts fantastic - a huge congrats on all the great finds ! :clapping:

Yes, there are 2 gold rings that I pulled in a couple of parks this year. One of my favorite finds this year has to be that large 1893 world's fair souvenir coin.

Any key dates in there? Those ones you sleeved huh? I know this next question may not be cricket, but what do you reckon the cash value of your haul is for this year?...well over a grand in just silver melt alone...nearly 150 on the gold, any idea?
Purely a mercenary question I know, but thats the kind of pile we show to the wife to get the go ahead for a new machine! Hell! help a brother out with just a guesstimate! I bet you got a good idea...

There a few semi key dates ; 1896 o barber dime, 1911 s wheat penny (graded out at $62), 1914 s wheat penny. xf 1917 standing liberty quarter /variety 1 to name a few. A couple more in the coin cases are an xf-au 1907 barber quarter and xf 1888, 1891 seated liberty dimes. I also have the 1853 seated liberty dime (arrows variety) in the coin case as it is my oldest silver this year.
In over 10 years of metal detecting I haven't sold one item so I don't keep a close tab on every value.

There is no need to get a new machine. Ive got an Etrac :)

Unbelievable - And I bet you cleaned out a lot of trash too which is a + we never get credit for.

That's a lot of work right there.

Great Job!

Incredible totals for one year! It looks like you have some very productive sites and a lot of time invested in pulling out a lot of great treasures! How did this year compare to others? What is the most silver you have found in one day? Very impressive and I hope you have a killer year in 2014!

In 2012 I pulled 186 silver and the year before that I got 102 so I definitely put more effort into metal detecting this year.
21 silver is the most silver I have ever pulled in one day from a junky fairgrounds. A combination of the stock coil, sunray x-8 and sunray stealth x-5 works
great as a 1-2-3 punch on those junkier sites along with going super slow and being very patient.

That spread of silver coins has got to be a season's record haul!

My arms hurt just thinking about digging all those targets not to mention the accompanying junk dug up.
