My 1st Hunt for 2017

My apologies if you have already seen this post. Cross posted from the Makro Racer forum....

1st time out with the Racer 2. Spent some time reading the manual. Reset my machine to Factory Default settings night before. Big mistake or so it seemed this morning. First location we went to my buddy started hunting. Could not get my Racer 2 headphones to sync up. Grab my iPhone & start trying to find a solution to this problem. Finally got them synced & started off using the 11 x 7 standard coil. Wanted to learn how the sounds would sound before I went to a small coil. This first location is an old roadside park that was established in 1927. When hunting with my Tesoro on previous occasions this site sounds off like a trash dump. Hunted for a short time & nothing found. Moved on & light rain shower moved in on us. Good time to go find some mexican food for lunch. After lunch, rain shower moved on. Next location is an old yard site. I've hunted it before several times throughout the previous year. I've found (1) washington quarter here last year. My hunting budding has found a few wheats & one silver dime here in the past. Previously I have tried to use a Tesoro Vaquero at this site. Site has been so trashy with nails & such that I had to give up on using the Tesoro here. I have used my XP Deus here before selling it. Very noisy while using the XP. Site has not been fun hunting through the year because of trash & just no luck here. Figured this would be a good site to test the Racer 2 out using the small 5" coil.

I decided to use two tone & no notch. Set ID filter on 28. Figured nickels & above would come in like this. Raised gain to about 88 but eventually dropped back down to 85 due to chatter. Compared to previous hunts here while using different detectors (Whites V3i, XP Deus, Tesoro Vaquero), this felt like a quiet hunt. Detector making a lot of quiet chatter but nothing compared to what I have went through before while hunting here. I ended up with (4) wheats & (1) rosie. Couple of the wheats where overlapped by nails but Racer 2 would pull a signal out. I was very impressed with the Racer 2 today. Cannot wait to get out again. Want to try out some more settings. My hunting partner found one memorial at this site today with his Whites V3i using his 5.75 concentric coil.

And a broken bit and a cartridge. What caliber? It looks like it was a blank? Good day with the Racer 2

Those Racer 2's are nice machines. My plans are to invest in one in the future.

I'm in the learning stage on it but liking what I see so far.
